I've been wanting to do this for a while, can't see how to get the cloth covers off the race seat and would like to clean (wash ?) the material as it hasn't been cleaned in many years and is looking a little dull.

Is there a method of cleaning the race seat cloth material without damaging it by forcing it off the CF seat ?

Has anyone recovered these seats ?

    Thanks

Have you considered a heated extractor?

When Indidnmy seats I glued foam onto the seat but the red cover is held into place by a string that you tension to lock it into position. You may need to unbolt the seat but you can access the string and release the tension to free the cover from the seat.

You know they are still making them ?

I wrote to OMP and they said I can still buy the seats and covers :)

    I thought I'd buy a second seat

I’d double-check on that JM. You should be able to buy the cover “material,” but not the actual cover. It’s also a new updated version of Nomex.

As for the seats… no way in hell you can still buy them. Triple check :).

You're right mate, I got a PM telling me where to get the red material .

But here's the PM reply I got from Lluck when I tracked down someone who made them

I had both of my 355 challenge seats redone a few years ago. The material isn’t complicated to source, any decent trimmer can do it easily when you supply the old cover.
They even reproduced accurately the sitching on the headrest.

Spoke to Liuck420. He’s LMclassicauto on Instagram. Perhaps I misunderstood, but he made/sourced reproductions of the period correct Nomex material, not the seat itself. The seat can’t be reproduced unless one can source the exact plastic belt hoops.

He also denies ever working for OMP.

I’d probably go with F40 material. Seems slightly more durable. Original Nomex isn’t the greatest :).
