There are several guys who are real tech experts who've been banned and I don't get it. There aren't that many people in the world who really know 355's and are willing to share their expertise with the internet for free. Seems like a bad strategy for a forum to keep people like that away.

You can be sure it was some form of he said, she said, things out of context, hurt feelings, attitudes, spite, perception or interpretation of rules, both sides think they are right, some or all of the above apply between him and mods, mods always win. Not unusual on forums.

I am a mod on a well-known car forum for a different marque and never let personal insults or ego influence decisions. I almost never ban people -- you have to be a real sociopath toward other forum members to get banned. Insult me all you want, but I won't ban you. This is America, you're supposed to be able to give the finger to the authorities.

This was long before my time so I have no knowledge of the situation..

However, the 1 sure fire way I've seen in other forums to get banned is usually around financial reasons.. i.e. something like promoting a business within the forum without paying to be a sponsor or similar.. whether it's factual or even perceived.. again not sure that is the case here but that's a one way to usually get tossed out in a hurry.

Regardless I think he has given and has a lot to still give to the community. I wish he was still here.

No need for any of that if you buy the Viton seals. stretch and fit right in.

That’s a lot of stretching and sliding to get each seal where it needs to end up. This tool insures against damage, slight or severe.

That's the route I went as well. As I understand it, the Viton seals for this application are a relatively new option, correct? Any idea how they hold up compared to the standard teflon seals. I've had the Viton seals in for 3 years, . . . so far, so good.

That's a really nice tool. I have a similar set of tools for steering rack rebuilds. There's a Teflon seal on the rack piston as well as three on the pinion valve/barrel that need to be stretched to fit. Along with tools to stretch the Orings there are equivalent tools that fit over the Orings/shaft to resize them.
