    So sorry to hear the news, but what a brilliant career. As a Ferrari-mad 11 year old boy I wrote him a fan letter--and he wrote back(I still have it). Rest in peace ingegnere.

    Mauro Forghieri talking about his relationship with Enzo Ferrari and particularly the anecdote with his deeply ill son is very interesting about his human side.( and Ferrari either)

    Had the pleasure to meet him once at a Ferrari event. In fact he drew me a little F1 car and signed it. The picture still hangs in my bathroom.

    This guy started with a GTO and ended working with carbon fiber and electronics. It was a time when everything changed and he lived through it. He also was one of the few who knew how to make an engine and a chassis. He had a lot to talk about for sure.

    Such a nice guy, and a real genius in the genuine sense of the word. To be as young as he was to be given the responsibility at Ferrari - by Enzo Ferrari ... and to have actually succeeded. Amazing story. The true passing of an era. truly Rest in peace.

    What we need today. But then he had Enzo standing next to him. They were a fearless combination that is totally lacking at Ferrari today. I venture that he had a great time in his life. To say RIP is to say goodbye. I'd rather cling to the memories of what he did.

    An anecdote about Forghieri.
    When Lauda retired from the Japanese Grand Prix in 1976 for safety reasons.
    Mauro Forghieri offered him to take full responsibility for a fake mechanical failure.
    Lauda refused, thanked him and said him to tell the truth.
    Another time with great people..
