You can look at Chris Harris YouTube reviews…..he (and I) like the 488 better. There is a reason every 6 year old kid standing at the curb points at a Ferrari ….they just look different, more special than anything else. With the side air scoops the 488 just looks “more special”. Saying that both are worth desiring and owning!

so your analysis of quality of Ferrari is to rely on a 20 something rapper? There may be a separate set of standards other people look at

Hopefully lifetime ban, as it should be. People like him are the reason so many others have long since abandoned F-chat. Really, who needs/wants to deal with the likes of him.

Had a Pista with an Inconel exhaust. Still traded fort he Speciale. I do miss the Pista's design though. I'll get over it.

I was raised as if you don't have something nice to say don't say it.... LOL but those colors silver/tan on a Ferrari do not work for me. I did have this combo on a Jeep Grand Cherokee once.

Interesting that the first 2 pages on the thread 458 , 488 , F8 are about issues with the 458 ?

well, to be fair, it is the oldest of the 3 so they'll have more issues in time... but they were also much worse cars.... the 488 got MUCH better and the F8 just went to the moon over the 488- build quality, materials used and performance LEAPED.... I've had them all and I equate the jump from 488 to F8 being as dramatic as the leap from 360 to 430-- HUGE impovements.

I don’t see the jump from 488 to F8 that big

IMO. A big change is going to the 296

BTW that’s the point I’m making the 458 is getting old and getting problems

No they aren't. There are plenty of threads about 488 issues as well. Replacing headliner, seat motor, stuck in wet mode.

Doesn't matter though, even if there were more issues, the 458 would still be worth it. Just have to listen to them back to back.

This car platform gets better and better as far as speed and reliability. Issues on 488 will start to show as it approaches and passes 10yrs old but I will say a little less issues than 458 with some mechanical issues as the platform matures as an over all statement and thought.

Seriously!?!?! Most probably and I know some did have exhaust and tune and yes the stock turbos can go bad then. I do not have the time nor will power to go pull up all the 458 posts with issues.

You can fix the 488 OEM turbo for less than $10k with Pure Turbo's. People think they can just add exhaust and tune with out touching-dressing the reliability of other part effected. Plenty of OEm stock 488's with lots of miles on them and no turbo issue.

The 488 I had I put 10k miles on the car...no engine or turbo issues... engine was stock and I did a cool down drive back to my house so the turbo's can properly cool down if I had been up in turbo boat.

Both my Italias have tunes and 200 cell cats, neither have had engine issues of any kind.

None has increased boost in turbochargers though :p
Obviously a NA car does not have any turbo issues - just like an F430 will never have DCT issues; that's hardly an argument to say the F430 F1 system is better than the 458 DCT (some may prefer the F1 system though, it's down to personal preferences).

good!... I never said it would. ..a tune on a turbo car and one with a more highly strung engine already needs to address more than just more boost, more fuel, injector timing and spark.... other pieces and parts need to be address for proper reliability.

The Pista is the prettiest car Ferrari has built in the last 50 years. People paying more money for Speciales than Pistas are foolish in my opinion. Slower, not as pretty and not as advanced suspension.

Oh but how about the extra 1000 revs in sound? Yeah,,, I never liked putting baseball. cards in the spokes of my bike when I was a kid nor did I take the muffler off my car when I was 18. So I think that's a stupid reason.

And Yes I have owned both.

As will the F8 have less issue.

The thing is the 458 was a total change to the 430 it replaced.
