Need the center square foam insulation pad for my 83 Quattro; not the 2 outer triangular pieces.

    Anybody have a source?

My current piece just doesn't want to hold on any longer.

    Thanks.

    Steve,

It is just black polyurethane foam. I have a whole bunch,,,, cheep, how much do you want.?

but, fact is, these cars run cooler,,, without the foam.
This winter, pull your radiator and have it serviced.
Remove all foam,, prime and paint frame.
Then, get one of my radiator silicon hose kits, 2 hoses, red or blue.
    PM me.
    ;)

    Thanks Edwardo.

I just need the center piece. I am just paranoid of the heat killing the paint on the engine bonnet.

My car runs pretty cool as it is, so not a big deal. Also, what type of adhesive do you use to affix?

    Thanks.

    Will pm you....

    Funny.

If I wasn't so tired from studying for the California Bar next week I would have laughed too.

Took a study break last night and saw foam not hanging on too well.

You would fall over if you knew what a factory piece of foam cost..........

There are threads here for the finding. I followed one and got some window a/c foam from Home Depot, cut to size and used upholstery adhesive to stick it into place. The piece between the radiator top and bonnet.

I did the exact same thing.

One year later, looks as good as the day I installed it!

    Are you kidding me?

$47 for a piece of foam?

Does it cure cancer or something?

    Ok, back from California.....

I am looking for the insulation center piece that covers the engine; not the radiator insulation covering the radiator.

    Sorry for the confusion.

There is the center piece which covers the engine, and two outer (triangular shaped) pieces on the engine lid.

The second photo is the shiny plastic piece (square) that came off the foam piece from the center square. Factory original price is waaaaaay high.

    Here's what I'm talking about............

Anyone have a ballpark figure on non factory original insulationi?

Look on Pelican Parts and order a pad for the 944 hood. A nice waffle pattern, brownish colour like Ferrari OEM, and has fire retardent properties (melts to help extinguish flames).

I used Dynamat. It's shiny, however, and not the OEM looking gray foam. At the time I didn't really care. Now, however, it's kind of bugging me. (At least I didn't go with the day-glo yellow spark plug wires...)

I was looking at the dynamat Hoodliner (which has the shiny aluminium top coat but they also do one that is just dark grey with slightly lower temp range, I think 200c instead of 225c. I think I will get some of that for mine.
