Talking about a 599. When the instruments start to act weird is it the same diagnosis for the most part. Does the pod need a rebuild or have we found a bad relay or such at times. Thanks,Mike

Can you describe in more detail what you mean by "act weird"? Things like erratic oil pressure are more likely to be the sender, but a wonky speedo is probably the gauge at fault, for example.

Hi Robin ,what seems to be the usual complaint. Screen goes dark ,lights on and off, tach and speedo stop and start.Battery is fine. Mike

Hmmm... some different things going on there- doesn’t sound like a dodgey sensor.

Don’t suppose you’ve jump started the car recently?

Either way it sounds like a failing component in the gauge cluster. A specialist should be able to locate the fault and replace the component.

Hi guys. No jumpstart and only one time so far. Called FAI but could not talk to a tech directly. Indications are that they replace a circuit board with upgraded components. Is the community happy with their work? Mike

Mike- Affirmative, they repaired my Superamerica cluster and are the experts on digital instrument clusters. They also have access to parts normal mortals cannot order.

Thanks Terry, I will use them if the problem persists. Looks like a fairly easy job to remove the cluster. Mike

I had the same problem a few years ago- everything went crazy and then dark (though the car was running at the time and continued to run just fine but without instrumentation!)- it was sent out for rebuild (not sure where) and then it was all better :)

Usual complaint on 599's and unfortunately it happened to me last month. Do not go to yr dealer, they just remove the faulty part, send to Maranello and fit a new one, cost between 8 to 10 000 € thru Ferrari dealers in Europe. I found a company last Monday who repaired a lot of these and will get back my car within 2 weeks.

I rather prefer to communicate when the car will be fixed. Unfortunately I left for Asia yesterday for few months, but I will give address on due time.
PS : It is in Holland.
