Me too. I guess it takes me a long time to get used to something and then when I am comfortable with it, it is changed ( for the better I am sure) and it takes that much longer to get used to it again.
First of all "Thank you" Rob for everything you've done! New software has nice options but it's a little bit difficult to find out "who is who?" though i can only see nicknames with the messages posted.
The site looks great. I have one small glitch. My Ferrarichat header is to long for the screen. Is that normal? All the threads fit nicely on the page, just the Ferrarichat header goes off the page.
Whenever I click on a thumbnail picture, or on someones profile, it completely locks up my system........I mean, I have to use CtrlAltDel, to exit FChat completely then come back in.........any suggestions.
For what it's worth, here's the coding for that section of the page: ___________ <td align="right" style="background-image: url(images/menu_background.gif);" nowrap="nowrap"> <p style="margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0" align="right"> <img border="0" src="http://www.ferrarichat.com/images/FerrariChat5.gif" width="450" height="75"></p> _____________ (Both align right, successively - then are followed by the coding for): Home | User CP | Calendar | Members | FAQ | Search etc. etc. through Contact Us (before the table breaks.) _____________ I'm guessing that at the least, maybe the advertisements table should be coded as rowspan="2". Don't know if the first .gif shown should also be rowspan="2" or if the pair of .gifs both should align right or not. However, </tr> should follow the second .gif coding, and <tr> should precede the Home through Contact Us codings. Not an expert, but the tables just seem to be not quite right yet - when a table is not quite right - a page gets whacked, and can ruin your appetite for making tables.
Have you got pop-ups enabled in your browser? Profiles appear in a separate window (although this is not new). Pics are now viewed in your picture editing/viewing software of choice (this is new). Have you configured this with your browser?
I find the picture thing to be annoying, IMO. I usually want to see the pictures and then be done with it, not download all these image files that I then have to delete later on. Oh well, I'll get used to it. Otherwise, it's a nice upgrade. Good job, Rob!
The new Board invites a sort of nouveau riche "how's my hair" poseur, whereas the old Board was designed for and used by enthusiasts. The old Board had a spare elegance, reached for art and was never derivative. The new Board is indistinguishable from other Boards, and in fact arguably provides less value in terms of style and features than those other Boards. The old Board was more visceral, required more skill to command - the user felt direct feedback from cyberspace, that there was nothing between him and the server. When the old Board first appeared, anyone remotely conscious of cyberchat bookmarked it. The new Board draws yawns, people don't even recognize it. Even those who want the fat, full featured Board experience may be disappointed, will want more customization and padding than the new Board provides - numbness that other Boards offer at a lower price. Someday - I hope in my lifetime - someone will design a new, stripped down Board, beautiful to look at, elegant, passionate, with state of the art performance.
Previously, I would enter the list by searching for the latest posts by designation how far to go back in time. I don't see that here. Any ideas or am I overlooking it.
LOL, WCH. We need to make that a template that you can fill in any new Ferrari model and get all the standard objections out of the way! Rob, do you feel proud... you're getting the same reaction that Ferrari and Pinninfarina have been getting, model after model! However, as you might guess, I too look forward to the Stradale version (of anything, this board included).
Rob's working on it... the field has already been added to the profile screen... but you still can't fill it out due to the birthday validation failing... which Rob is already working on. Poor guy, having to work on all this while we just have fun! But, then, he's gonna eat a lot better than I get to tonight!
Statements like that are useless to me. You have to give specific feedback. They need to be in the Bugs & Enhancements section too so that I can track it. I'm not noting any comments from GFD. I want this section back to Ferrari discussion.
