I am looking into possibly getting a F40. Would 92 be the best year being that it is the latest and I assume the most advanced? Also why do I see more 1990 models than any other? I would be my first Ferrari and I just got a Diablo Roadster. Thank you.
Could you post a pic of your Diablo? I don't think the F40 underwent much change throughout its production. This is a pretty good thread to point you in the right direction about the evolution of the F40 and how it came into being: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=16552&page=1&pp=20 You should be looking to spend around $300,000, perhaps a little more for a good example. Most tend to agree that it's far better to get a car with higher mileage and some track time that has been well cared for than one that has sat in a garage and never seen the track.
I dont have the picture because I got the car 2 weeks ago and it will be in the shop for another month or so. I drove it for the first time on wednesday for a few miles. Im in L.A. and there was a dealer who had a 90 with 150 miles for $395! It was very nice but I couldnt get it at the time. I would like somthnig like that. Someones baby!
Im getting a triple disc kevlar clutch ( which is on order), 15k tune, water cooler, new tires, red calipers, custom exhaust & airfilter, 2 cat removal, custom mats, GT pedals.
I hear that not even a clutch and the whole motor has to come out for that what are you getting a whole new car? or are you watching the dark crystal
shahram, When it really does come to F40's the cheapest way is to go (as stated above) with a higher milage car (3500 - 10,000+) that has been taken care of nicely of course. The one at newport autosports is a beautiful car, dont get me wrong on that one. But you'll be looking to spend more on servicing the car. For me I'd actually go with a lower miliage car and spend the extra buck to service it. Just my 2 cents. -Alex
Hi Alex I think I see you on the Lambo board alot. I knew a guy who had a F40 with the upgraded turbo and exhaust and he said it was fater than his GXR. Do you know why there are so many 90 vs any other year?
He owns a Diablo roadster. I can confirm that. Why would you call someone a troll when he owns an Italian car, and came here looking for help on an F40?
Yep thats me! I'm not sure exactly why there are so many 90's floating around; I too have noticed that. I'd assume maybe it was the peak production year(?) Though I remember reading somethign recently that had mentioned the later 91 - 92's were a little different from the earlier cars. I cant put my thumb on it though, but I'll look around!
Like any car I am sure the later years have fixed all the flaws of the previous years. It was an F40 or an F50 but the F50 is a little too much for now. I also like the 288GTO but not more than a F50 or F40 and I dont like the Enzo. Im not a fan of any other ferrari like the 360s etc..
because history has shown that when someone makes their first post and starts in about just buying a Diablo a week ago no pictures mind you and he now wants to buy an F40. Come one doesn't that raise a flag or two. Now if he is legit that's cool but when the first post says that it raises some flags with some people. you can't blame them about that we have all seen our share of trolls come on and say they own this and now they want to buy that.
So thats what a Troll is? I wont get it for a while I just want to do the research on it so when Im ready it will be a smooth transaction. Ive always loved the F40.
If you are legit then I would bet you will stick around and eventually share some pics with the rest of the community. If not you will fade away and no one will give it a second thought. We all welcome you here to F-chat if you are legit. Congrats on the L-car purchase and hopefully you will find a nice F40
sk90077--- I applaud your sense of understanding&tolerance. Id' be remissed not to admit it was my first thought as well. If I might suggest, it'd be helpful for you to fill out your profile. About your search for a F40. I dropped my 360 off this morning for some brake pads replacement at Autosport Gallery and a F40 was waiting to be picked up by Passport Transport for auction at Christie....You have PM for more info. tom
Thank you. Here is the pic from the Dupont where I got the car from. No need to lie we are all adults. A good lie would be a Enzo or Mclaren. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just send you PM for contact lead on F40. BTW, you have my favorite car of all times....Is this one of the ten Millenium Diablo Roadster Edition?
I dont like the 99s The lights make me sick and the interior sucks imo. 98 was the best year for a lambo imo
In addtion Chris Parr, one of our F-chatters and also a very active senior member of our F-community owns an F40 himself. Chris has a network and contacts. Feel free to PM him. I am sure he is pleased to help. It's "cmparrf40".
