i'm posting this mostly as a continuous reference, sorta like a regular spotters' thread, but just for Ferraris in movies... i saw a movie on HBO the other night called Back To The Beach that had an old Ferrari racecar in it, just non chalantly driving around on the street... It wasn't a 250 TR, but somewhat resembled one... There's a faily new movie with DMX, Jet Li & Tom Arnold that has a few Ferraris in it; 360 and a 355... When i come up with the name of the movie, i'll post it... i know lists have been made, but movies keep coming up, so lists need updates... If you see a movie that has a Ferrari in it, replica or authentic, post the name of the movie here, with as much information as you can remember...
Thanks DES! I wonder whether they will ever drive the 355 parked in the villa of "Next Action Hero"? Maybe in tonight's premiere?
LOL, that's the name of the movie...! Thank you, Andreas... Ok, so just to recap, Cradle 2 The Grave, starring DMX, Jet Li & Tom Arnold, has a 360 and a 355 in one scene where Jet Li & Tom Arnold are entering a building to watch illegal blood sport-type of fighting... i guess Cradle 2 The Grave came out earlier this year (2004) or late last year...?
Are you talking about the campy Annette Funicello/Frankie Avalon revival flick from the 80s? If so, the F-car must've been a fakey-do.
LOL, that's EXACTLY the movie i'm talking about...! Yeah, it was probably a fake, but fake or not, i want it mentioned... The Spyder California in Charlie's Angels II is a replica, no...?
Replica? In a movie? Hell no, they would never do that, would they? I mean that 355 and the Lambo that they dropped out of the plane in the Bond movie, those were real, right?
Actually 2003 movie. Back to the beach is 87. Another nice thing about Netflix, you get all the data about the movies. PS: "Perfect Score" was the last 2004 movie I know of with a Ferrari in the plot. Plot as in 5 seconds drive away.
there was also "On the Beach" - 1959, Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire, in which Fred Astaire races a Ferrari 750 Monza, then parks it in the garage and asphyxiates himself in it . . . probably a little different than the Frankie and Annette movie.
Though I've never seen this film, it's supposed to also contains a brief appearance by a 166MM. Both s/ns unknown to me. Anyone?
Here is one for the list. "The Swiss Conspiracy" There was a silver Ferrari Daytona 'Targa". It looked great driving around the mountain roads. Unlike a certain Miura it stayed on the mountain! ch
The Miura as in the original Italian Job? The Swiss Conspiracy actually had two Daytonas racing each other through the Swiss mountains as a metaphor for sex between the two drivers (one being a woman!). PS: As much as I like discussing the old movies, NNO really created this thread as an on-going discussion for NEW movies continuing the tradition.
The little woman and I were re-livin our 80s experience during a recient trip to the Video store. I grabbed PORKYS, TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA, and THE HIDDEN. Of course Porkys didnt have any F-cars but the other two did. TO LIVE AND DIE IN LA. William Dafoe plays an artist/counterfeiter who drives a black 308 (Classic 80s directing. Watch it in Fast Forward! Its much more enjoyable) THE HIDDEN: Great show to watch if you want to see a 308 get trashed! (Still the best Ferrari Chase I have seen on film! No Kit Car or CG effects here!) PORKYS: well there is this scene where . Ahhh never mind! PD
Andreas, thank you, but this is cool, too... If we can get ALL of the movies into one thread, even better... Gerald actually did a front page article about Ferraris in movies, television shows and even music videos a long time ago... The article mentions many of the movies listed here... It's a pretty good read...
I got what I consider the most complete list of Ferraris in movies. Happy to post it, but this is a bit of a repost really.
Bad Boys II - Didn't see it, but saw the commercial, a 550 for stunts, a 575 for driving I think (don't quote me on this) Bond - several, already mentioned the dropped out of plane car, also Goldeneye has a 355 I believe, the girl in it drives it. Vanilla Sky- I know that this is a replicar of some sort, but beautifully done 250 GTO The Rock - Yellow 355 that meets its demise.. Prolly a kit (I hope!!) Those are just a few off the top of my head, maybe I'll add more. Craig
Shrek 2 had a Red Testarossa (two horse powered fairy tale version, but definitely an F-car errr wagon) PD
