Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce myself.... Not a Ferrari owner yet but I'd like to think it's only a matter of time (I'm a poor engineering student at the moment)! Currently building a supercharged, bike engined Lotus 7 replica which should be finished within a year. Out of interest, anyone got any experience or opinions of this sort of thing? I'd also like to mention my websites if I can, which will be going live in the next few months. They are www.buyaferrari.co.uk and www.buyaclassiccar.co.uk. When they are online and running let me know if you've got a car to sell and I'll do some free ads! Look forward to chatting, and see you in a few years in my 250GT! Stu
Hello and welcome, there are a few Caterham and Westfield owners here, have fun, keep the valium handy.
Hi Stuart welcome to Fchat.Which Lotus 7 kit is your car based on. My company used to be agents for Westfield a few years ago(but that's another story),but we still look after a few for customers. Steve
Hi, Thanks everyone! My car is a bit of a home made thing really, based losely on a book produced called "Build your own car for £250" (its a lie, in case you wondered!). Should be nice and quick though, about 500kg and 150 bhp. Sort of like a Westfield fw400 in theory. I'll post some pics when its finished.
Hi Stuart, Welcome to the family.I take it that you are a Mclaren fan or are you just reliving the memories of Ron Dennis's old team? Daz
Hi Daz, thanks for the welcome. I'm not sure what you mean about Ron Dennis / McLaren though! We're you referring to Project 7 Racing?
Stuart, Ron Dennis used to use Project 7 as his old racing team name. This was way before he became involved with Mclaren.
Darren, Ron Dennis used Project 4, hence all the Mclarens after he took over being called M\P4 or Mclaren Project 4
Stuart Caterham man myself, good luck with the build but go for more BHP!!!, mine's about the same weight but 220BHP btw welcome
Ah I see, didn't know that about Ron Dennis. I just chose that name for my site(.tk) because its a project building a 7-style racing car! Mark, I'm going to have as much power as I can afford! Maybe a supercharger is a good idea...
Stuart, Good Morning and Welcome! 250 GT in a couple of years.....What kind of 250 GT ???? Can I use the same numbers as you on Wed and Sat from now on ? Seb
Hi Stuart Welcome to F-chat. Live near Wakefield so fairly close by to you, you would be most welcome on any organised drive outs. The passenger seat in mine is usually free, though its not an f-car. Another forum to check out if you have not already done so is www.pistonheads.com/gassing the Yorkshire forum on there is very active....again frequent drive outs and social (read boozing) gatherings. Hope the project car goes well. Best Regards Martyn.
Any 250 would be nice, but I may as well aim for a GTO I guess! And of course a GT40 to compare it to... Confused again about the "numbers on Wed and Sat" bit though, sorry. Martyn, would be really cool to come out on a drive sometime, thanks a lot for the offer. Picking up the Chassis and bits a week tommorow - I'll post some pics when it gets interesting! Cheers guys
