From a friend in the SCCA. Could it be true? -- Thanks to the state legislature's new budget, speeding in New York just got a whole lot more dangerous. Up until now, the state got the fine money from any local courts whenever a speeding ticket was paid. The local town got to keep the fine money from any equipment violations, such as broken tail lights or bald tires. Speeding tickets put points on your license, equipment violations don't. As anyone who has ever gone to traffic court will tell you, the courts are usually very eager to offer equipment violation pleas to anyone in for a speeding ticket. Hey, it saves you the points on your license, and now we see that it also puts money into the local town's pockets. Well, the state has now decided with the new budget that *all* fine money goes to Albany. Since there's no financial incentives for local towns to offer equipment violation pleas any more, we are all going to lose. Watch car insurance go up as well in the next year or so, since now the state's drivers will all be getting points on their licenses and the state will look like a bigger risk all of a sudden. Remember to send a thank-you note to your state politicians come election day.....
Send a note now, to squash or repeal it if possible. I'm sure NYC will be screaming! Anybody want to post a sample letter and the names/address of NY reps so a letter campaign can be started?
hey it may be better, the towns will be ticked off, no more tickets . I read that the staties write like 50% of the tickets though
dude the guy who did the interior design for my house is a flaming homosexual ( as most designers are ) he was asking how fast i went in the spider, i told him , about 80, and he was like WHATTTT?!?! YOU WENTT THAT FASTTT??? I NEVER GO ABOVE 40 and proceeded to tell me abotu the time he was given a ticker for going too slow and holding up traffic
as utkarsh put it: "dude the guy who did the interior design for my house is a flaming homosexual ( as most designers are )"
