Can anybody tell me how to charge the battery of a 1986 328 GTS without taking out the spare tire in the front trunk of the car? I just got a surgery & I'm not allowed to lift anything over 10 pounds. That spare tire is not only heavier than 10 pounds, I don't want it to scrape the body paint of my car.

The cigarette lighter socket is always "on". You can plug a battery tender or a charger in there but do not exceed the fuse rating of that circuit which if I remember correctly is 15A.

Agreed, cig lighter is the way to go...but play it safe, and stay around 6 amps max.
