Hello all, I have never owned a Ferrari and now it's time. Don't want to wait 3 years for an f430 and don't want to pay 100,000 over sticker for one right away. I own a 2005 mercedes e55 with kleeman stage 3 which boosts it up to 610 hp and 830 lb torque. My problem is that I want the power of a v12 (575m) but don't like the curb appeal as much as I do the 360 spider. My mercedes will dust the 360 but I love the way it looks and definitely want a 6 speed manual that my merc does not have. Anyone out there owned both a 360 spider and 575M? If so, could you give some advice? Pros and cons. Which one you would prefer if you could only have one. Thanks in advance, Gianni Romanelli [email protected]
I would rather have a 575, though I do agree that the 360 has more curb appeal. It depends on where you live and how often you would use it. If it was me I would get a blue over tan 575/550...gorgeous!
I live in Columbus Ohio. I will use as a weekend driver when the weather permits, which is maybe 5 or 6 months out of the year. It is sad to say that it is easier to get a Lamborghini than it is to get a Ferrari here. Nelson Auto Group is the largest Lamborghini dealership in the united states which is about 30 miles from where I live. Actually, they have more used Ferrari's than Midwestern Auto Group which is a true Ferrari dealership. I don't get it. I test drove a 2005 Gallardo and a Murcielago. My Mercedes is faster than the Gallardo but the Murcielago is heaven. I just can't spend $300,000 on a ride. My limit is about $200,000 give or take 30 to 40k. While I am a Ferrari guy: 1. The Murcielago is heaven on earth but too flashy. don't want to rub it in too much. 2. The Gallardo isn't worth the extra money 3. 575M is a workhorse but looks like a vette 4. The 360 spider is by far my favorite eye candy but my Mercedes would crush it. 5. I want to buy a Ferrari since I am Italian. A cultural thing. So I am confused as to what to purchase. Brand new black, grigio, or titanium 360 Spider or a bad ass 575 Maranello.
I have had both the 360 coupe and 360 spider and now have a 575M. Personally I prefer the 575M. Not as raw. It is a refined, comfortable touring sedan with incredible power and great handling. The 360's are also great with the coupe being my favorite of the two. I suggest that you drive them and pick the one YOU like the best.
I'm going for a 360 coupe after looking hard at the 550/575.There are fewer 550/575 on the market vs the larger # of 360s out there.Ifeel I can get a 04 360 for the price of a 01 550 and I like the added bonus of the factory warranty with an 04 360 vs an 01 550,but I've allways wanted a 360,so I'm going with my 1st love (360 coupe).
I've owned a 575 and a 360 coupe. For a daily driver, for short trips, really for anything except track use - because of its better torque, more convenient trunk space and greater comfort, I'd choose the 575. I really enjoyed driving my 575; I even miss it. I liked the 575 handling. I sold the 575 because I've realized that, for the money, I want something more raw. I just don't really need or want to put that much money into a GT. My 2 cents.
12-cylinder example, of course. I own a 456M GT and am in the process of beginning the motions of acquiring my second Ferrari, either the 575M Maranello or its probable successor, the new 600 Imola.
Hello Unfortunately I am not in the position now to buy either one of them but if I may give my opinion: the 360. Why? the looks are incredible. Performance and quality will be great from the both of them but I guess you want somethings else as the comfy ride. Same reason as you want manual now. But who am I to judge ? Can buy my 360 only in a year and a half.. They are pricey here. A 2000 360 does about $ 140.000 / 150.000 here.
I pick the 360 spider because (a) looks, (b) its a spider. If you keep the 360 in the power band (constantly above 5000 rpm) you will find it is 80% of the performance of a Murci. To me, the Ferrari is about the racing history, the finesse and the sex appeal. You will never race a 360 from stop light to stop light unless you want to lose to inferior cars. Take it to the race track or drive it through the windy roads and it is a different story. The spider, to me, is a great experience. You put the top down -- the tubi exhaust is screaming for you while you enjoy the scenery and the ride. But you are better comparing a 360 CS to a 575 than a 575 to a 360 spider if you want to talk performance. The 575 is a more powerful car, but if it was all about power, then stay with your e55. In fact, put more money in that e55 and get more HP/torque out of it instead. Then go vroom-vroom at every stop light.
575 is a Gt car and will not give you as much exhiliration as an open top 360 will. you will love the 360 spider.
Well I went from a 01 360 coupe to a 04 360 spider, but once I drove the 575 it was all over for me. It is the IMHO the best of both worlds. It is powerful, fast (and with the right options) can be driven to 95% of the 360 capabilties. It is also a great highway cruiser and for my needs a much better car the the 360. I got very tired of people making a fuss over the 360 (my coupe was red) and I kind of like the fact that most people to not know what it is. I do not see how you think the 575 looks like a vette, but that your opinion. I have been into cars my whole life and for many years thought is all about who had the fastest 0-60 but once I got over that (about 30 years ago) I came to realize tha for me it was the way the car communicated to me, and how I felt driving it. I'm sure you will get many different answers but if you can drive them both, not for 10 minutes but as long as you can, try to go both on the highway and through the twisties. The 575 will likely be harder to manage in the twisties at first though far easier than you E55. In the end I think you'll find your own answer. Truth is you cant go wrong either way.
No need to fly when your in a convertible. Just because its a Ferrari, that doesnt mean it has to be the fastest thing on the road. I agree the 575 looks like a vette. The 360 spider is a beauty. Drive the Mercedes when you want to go fast. Think of it as a cruiser, driving down the beach in fist gear waiting for the unsuspecting sunbather in the hot bikini to jump in for a ride, thats how I do it.
Not that I don't like Corvettes, but a Maranello looks NOTHING like a Corvette....just because it's a 2-door with the engine in front of the driver doesn't mean it looks "the same". Anyway, 360 is nice. 575 is better....get the Maranello. V12 torque, and more usable as well.
I'm sorry to inform you the 575 looks absolutely nothing like the Vette. Forza, Kevin Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
if someone really thinks a 575 looks like a vette, then either1}get an immediate check up by an ophthalmologist and or 2} have your local neurologist do an EEG, checking for a flat line pattern...
