Jim sorry to ask, are any of the body panels on your cars the real ones? I ask because I see that in the garage on the top there is few body panels [ I think for the GT-40]. Cheers ilo
The Body on J6 is the original body that ran at Le Mans. The Body on 0854 is the original Spyder body of 0858. I have the original Coupe tail of 0854 as well as her original doors which I will be restoring and mounting on 0854. The Coupe body on 0846 is an Allegretti P4 Coupe body. 0858's spyder tail will be going on 0846. The Grey Body on the wall is an original spare Lola Body (Specialized Mouldings) The P4 Spyder Body on the wall is Piper fiberglass. The Black MK-IV body on the wall is an original MK-IV spare body and Kar Kraft Original mould. Zach 0854 is at WWOC I'm not sure if 0846 is as well. If Sal finished going through her after my test Drive she will be. Michael Lola is traveling but she'll be home next week. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, It's probably too early to tell, but is there a noticable difference in driving the two P cars? David Goerndt
M I think so. It's my friends who shares the garage with me. David Yes a bit early. Zach Nice to see you. Best
Jim, Regarding what stage to restore #854 to ... I think it would be confusing to have 2 number 23's Pete
Well . If nobody else is going to post a link to them in this thread, then I guess I will have to . Chris DiTommasos excellent photos of the Scuderia Glickenhaus P4 and 412P at Wide World Of Cars Tech Day in New York on Sunday 15th May. From the New York Tri-State WWOC Tech Day Picture Thread: http://public.fotki.com/goldenchris1224/car_pictures/2005-05-15_wwoc/ Thanks for sharing, Chris Great Photos !
After a very quick bit of work in the body shop, here are 0846 and 0854............... OK, by a coincidence, when the Revell 1:18 P4's came out more than ten years ago, these were the two I bought ( to add to a large collection of 'P'-cars ranging from 1:18 down to 1:87 (but sadly, none at 1:1) Paul M Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ferrari couldn't deliver a 512S for 1969; he bought an early 917 and raced it in South Africa in 69/70, coming independently to much the same conclusions about necessary body modifications as John Wyer's team from their testing. The year after his crash, he entered a 512 M at Le Mans IIRC, s/n 1028 for Craft/Weir. I think he sold the Matra MS650 V12; but I believe he owns a Lola T70, and he certainly has or had a GTO-bodied SWB. He's traded over the years about half of the 250LM's and P4's built, to say nothing of 206 Dinos, 917s and 512s. Paul M
BTW, for P4 fans there's an article about 0856 in the latest Cavallino (the latest that I've seen anyway; there was one about 0854 in about 1989 IIRC). Paul M
That's OLD news, Macca. You're referring to Cavallino #145 - Even I got my copy nearly 2 months ago ! See this thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54656 Issue #147 is the current one - which is what started this other recent thread: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61882 Cavallino No. 55 February / March 1990 Pages 3639, actually, Paul - See my earlier reference to the article in the last paragraph of Post #294 of this thread. There's also been another article on the 330/P4 and Mauro Forghieri's recollections of it, in Cavallino No. 100 August / September 1997 on pages 36-38 and 40.
Yeah, but I don't have a sub.........I just browse in Chaters from time to time and get odd copies - I've got both the other two, 55 & 100, but I'd missed that post about 145. So are you going to Goodwood................or are you going to be updating your P4 replica website? Paul M
I can't believe I missed this thread until just now...what a great read! And I also seemed to have missed when Paul got banned. What was the final reason? Anyways, back on topic. Congrats Jim, enjoy...
