Does anyone know how to remove the cigarette lighter from 1980 GTSi? I assume it unscrews.....but want to make certain. Thanks, Danny
To remove the lighter you need to remove the center console cover it rests on. You do this by opening the ash tray and pulling out the tray. Below the tray are 2 screws. Remove these and lift out the ash tray. You can now lift out the console lid as it is fixed in on the front with the ash tray and on the rear with a metal clip that is part of the console lid. This should give you enough access to remove the cigarette lighter. Be careful not to pull too hard when removing because the heating controls are connected to the console lid and you can damage them with too much force. The cigarette lighter is held in with a clip if I remember correctly that holds it in from the back side. It is not possible to remove without disassembly.
