I came across this today, I searched to see if it was anyone here... http://www.ultimategarage.com/subterr2.html This person looks to be a real enthusiast. Steve
You know what I've always wanted to see in someone's house? Not a basketball court, a 20 car garage or a serious home theater. Nope. Been done. (waves hand away) A full motion Level D flight simulator. Bar none, that is the ultimate toy in a house. If I ever get wealthy enough to install one of these $17-million babies, you can bet I'd never leave that room. You'd have to deliver food and toilet paper in. http://www.flightsafety.com/fsi_theater.php RMX
Subterranean is the only way to go.. I've always wanted one that had the entrance disguised as a regular garage door (with a very normal 3000sq ft Craftsman-style house sitting on top). Showing off is one thing, blowing someones socks off with something they never expected is another entirely. C.
Agree with you whole-heartedly on that point. The looks on faces would be worth the cost all in itself.
I wonder if one could get away with an underground garage here in Florida. I don't think it's possible, but you never know... RMX
I take it all back, no elevator for the cars? They can keep it! Why build a 4-level though with all that (aparently) land? Unless the lot is smaller than it seems, feels like a lot of stairs to climb up and down. Then again, I'm a big fan of the 1 story. REMIX: I'm with ya on the flight sim.
no elevator but they do get a turntable! If you scroll to the bottom of this page : http://www.ultimategarage.com/whatsnew.html there are some pics of the owner's cars. Is this anyone we know?
this mammoth of a house they are building near my condo in Florida has an underground garage, so it can be done.
I think it's VERY weird to see anything being built with wood frame anymore. But then again, where I live, if you don't have concrete block, watch out! I suppose the walls could be sealed properly for an undergound garage in Florida. Being that everything's sandy and we're so close to the water table, I was curious. RMX
i always dreamed of having an underground garage. But the ultimate to me would be to rig it up so its like a normal drive way,but it lowers down creating a ramp driving down into an underground garage. It is so subtle and sooo awesome! but this guys house seems off the hook, i wish i had that, but don't we all???
I know the folks that run FlightSafety. Great company - I'm always wearing the gear. Image Unavailable, Please Login
