Thoughts? Comparisons?
Havent driven it but I Love that car. I think I might prefer the NA version though. Its the true 21st C GT40
The engine wasn't on persay, but I steered one at a TV show that I was working on in California.. Impressions from my brief experience(s) w/ it: -To low to be driven on the street, IMPOSSIBLE -Passenger seat isn't usable unless the passenger doesn't have legs -Couldn't see it being reliable due to the low production numbers + HUGE forced induction system-- but I'm just speculating. Very cool car- has just as much, if not more presence as the Enzo, Carrera GT, SLR, etc.. Pictures of the TT S7 from that show: http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=autorox&id=Doorsup_on_the_Saleen http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=autorox&id=Front_of_the_Saleen http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=autorox&id=Some_more_of_the_Saleen http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=autorox&id=Side_of_the_Saleen http://kenny.myphotoalbum.com/view_photo.php?set_albumName=autorox&id=Another_Saleen_S7_shot
I hadn't heard of anyone with one, but I see a few advertised for sale (but who knows if they actually have a car yet, or are preselling). If you need a sidekick if/when you do your writeup, let me know!
I talked with a guy that is a former race car driver and sold the Saleen product for a while. He told me that you could not drive the S7 on the road. It was really meant for the track. On the road you could never get the tires warm enough and the car was a bear to handle unless they were warm. Took him over a year to sell the car (new). Finally went to a buyer from Germany I believe. They were glad to see it go!
You saying just the normal S7 is almost impossible to drive on the road? That sucks if so, although I have seen quite a few pictures of people driving them on the road. The normal S7, not the TT version.
I have driven in and driven a regular s7 on the road. it is actually more usable than Enzo or anything like that because it has a true MANUAL tranny so you don't get that F1 feeling... (don't like those semi auto boxes myself) the TT is something I will have to report on in a week or so....
I have never driven one but I have seen 3 around town and they look ok, but small cockpit. I am 6'3 and I believe it would be a very tight fit.
It looks amazing. It's the second fastest car in production right now, after the CCR. I would like to see some real comparison between the two in a magazine. Maybe EVO will do that when the Veyron comes out later this year.
I drove a regular S7, and I've placed an order for an '06TT. The regular S7 was quite a joy and easy to drive. I had no problems, and I'm not Schumacher or anything
Such a gorgeous car. I saw one at NADA in February, and another one at the Dallas Auto Show. *sigh* I would love the opportunity to ride/drive either the regular or TT.
that is my second favorite car off all time (either black or the cool blue they have) cant be touched on a track or with looks
