Here's the tremendous video of Jeremy Clarkson's test drive for Top Gear: http://www.arielatom.com/04/topgear.htm What do you guys think? I just put a deposit down on a US spec car, so don't criticize it too nastily; I may take it personally. man,u r buying of the most ridiculous looking, outrageous, overpowered monstrosities ever....u lucky, lucky man!!!! smiles, the ariel atom is probably the quickest, most fun, best handling track tool EVER.even better than the caterham 7 or light car co. rocket!!! however,i dont think it's road legal in most countries, has no weather protection, is noisy, costly to fix, difficult for novices but is truly fantastic. makes the elise look and feel like a cadillac as well as out-handling an enzo. SUPERB!!!!did i say u were a lucky man?!?!?
Thats got to be one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen. But I want one so bad. Good luck with it and have loads of fun!
I love it. Was talking to a guy in Virginia who was getting one. The Ariel will be a monster at the VIR track near him. It's a friggen go-kart on steroids.
Thanks guys, very much. I should add that it will be registered for the road: fully titled and insured.
What are going to have to do to it to make it US-spec ? I would think it would change the appearance, handling, etc. with the big bumpers, etc. Do you have a picture of a US spec car ?
driving that on the road (legally or not) would be so cool. it might be a little scary in LA traffic, but when it opens up
I'm sure it's road legal in Belgium and Holland, probably in the UK too, don't know about other countries...
Here was an Ariel Atom at the last Player's Run I did last June. I felt sorry for the guy when we were up in the California/Oregon mountain-border crossing. It was cold and rainy up there. The guy looked liked he was freezing. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I envy you, btw there was one this year at Pebble Beach. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43707&highlight=Ariel+atom
a US Spec car would be very cool, way better than a SMART , even the Brabus model. How much MPG does it get ? I'd love to see a comparison with a T-Rex
I have no idea. One tester who did some hard laps, and carved out some canyons, found 25 mpg. I'm more interested in performance, of course. I'll be getting a 2.0 Ecotec that's supercharged. It will be well over 200 horsepower. In fact, here's the factory recipe booklet for making up to 1400 bhp from the exact same engine: http://www.gm.com/company/gmtunersource/html/race_shop_build_book.htm
