With the exceptions of SteveF & Barabus who will no doubt go on about 12 Cylinders, the usual suspects with the Tubi's / Capristos etc - what music do you find driving to? What makes you drive aggressively or smoothly? Do you have a favourite album that you love driving to?

stevef doesn't listen to music because you can't fit gramaphones in the dash. It has nowt to do with 12cyls.

Varies a lot dependent on mood. Prodigy, Scissor Sisters, James Brown, Catatonia, Tom Jones, classical. All sorts.

James Blunt appears to be on my "most recently played" list on the iPod (which is connected to the car stereo).

I also listen to Radio 2 more and more (seemed to start when I was 32 and is getting worse).

And I hope you appreciate no mention of horses, or tracks that other halves make you play :)

    "I won't let you down"
    by Jim Diamond

    taken from internet:
"Jim Diamond, the “small Scotsman” as he is often referred to, shot onto the music scene in May 1983 after he formed Ph.D with the epic ballad ‘I Won’t Let You Down’. The song came from Ph.D’s self titled debut album. The track originally failed to venture anywhere until WEA realised the band’s talent and instantly signed them up. The song meanwhile went on to become a classic in its own right."

It's an interesting question and one that reminds me of the pathetic (IMO) poll they did on Top Gear where the top 5 favourite driving songs were all hideous old rock or metal songs from the dark ages. IT almost put me off driving forever if that's the sort of company I'm keeping:D They sure know how to waste a lot of decent viewing time on that programme

I generally find the engine is music enough, but if in need of some tunes I am currently favouring the Fun Loving Criminals new album, followed closely by Supergrass and St Etienne

In the CD player at the moment are: Coldplay, Jamiroquai, Duran Duran, Dark side of the 80's and I forgot the others.

I can't change them yet as the others are packed away ready for my house move.

I listen to the radio most of the time and have a bad habit of retuning every 5 mins. Although I still don't class myself old enough for radio 2 (even though I am).

Just before the 355 blew up I had Lemon Jelly as well as Mylo on a fair few times, there is always some sort of dodgy Ministry CD in my car, although the last decent one was probably back in '99 - Clubbers Guide to Ibiza '99 is one of my alltime favourites (mixed by ATB), and is always in whichever car I own - infact I managed to rescue it from the burining 355 (buy them as a matter of habit now!).

Hed Kandi's are also a big fav.

Recently I have been enjoying Forever Faithless even though I have all the tracks elsewhere already..

Think I left a selection of dodgy trance CD's in JRS's 355 Challenge after he rescued me from said burning vehicle - which I can only apologise for if he put them in his CD player :)

Oi! Nicola! I'm "only" 35. Just can't abide the mongos presenting on Radio 1 and the other stations in London that play OK music (Capital, Kiss, Virgin etc) are so full of ads it drives me mad. These days Radios 3 and 4 are where old people go (or perhaps it's all relative :) ).

And Jonathan Ross is worth listening to on a Saturday.

closeshave - Eminem's also one of my most played.

stevep - is that the same "bullet the blue sky" that U2 did? Starts off with some slow rythmic drumming and then plenty of guitar (one of the lines is "and I can see those fighter planes")? Great song if it is.

    U2 are another regularly played...

    Varies, but highest percentage of tunes in the car would be categorised as;

    88 ~ 90 Hardcore (Acen, etc.)
    Dance (Euro house, Trance)
    R&B (with a heavy b-line).

Also agree that Blur's Song 2 is a top tune!

    Both I suppose.

    Murph,
I have tuned in by accident to radio 2 a few times and enjoyed it, once I realised what the station was, I quickly retuned.
How long until I give in and just listen...35?
