For those of you who have never driven a performance car on a road course, check this out... http://www.dgtalpimp.com/m3_gtr_nurburgring.wmv This is a video of Hans Stuck driving a BMW M3 GTR on Nuremburgring. It is poetry in motion in the hands of one of the senior citizens in active racing. This will give you a glimpse of why I have been hooked on driving on road courses for the last 32 years. There aren't any drugs that can compare to this kind of adrenaline high. I would enjoy hearing your feedback. Brad
Awesome video !!!! Thanks !! I don't mind admitting that I was on the edge of my seat and sweating during the whole of that video. That was totally on-the-limit driving, and it was especially dangerous since there was so much traffic at various speeds littered along the track. He was just smoking everybody (one of the first cars was a white WRX/STi -heh). Certain parts were downright heartstopping - that red Porsche which didn't yield properly would've made me panic. To be fair, I think the P-car had little choice, it was a narrow part of the track and I think he was scared witless by the speed of approach of the M3. Subsequently, the M3 had a moment where he nearly lost it - the car was oversteering but the driver caught it so expertly that it was hardly noticeable. I know I couldn't have caught oversteer at that speed. Seeing a wrecked car at the side of the track just makes the whole thing more real doesn't it ? Very scary and very exciting - thanks again !
Thanks. I've seen it before but thanks again for reminding all of us about the video. Truly awesome stuff
Very cool video! I just love on-board footage, especially when a driver of Stuck's stature is at the wheel. I felt like I was playing my Gran Turismo 4!
I have seen that before as well, but just watched it three times!! Not only is he an amazing driver but that car rocks! Anyone car to guess what type of speeds he was carrying through the long straight? It would be so cool to have a small third window with speedo showing. Awesome drive. thanks
I was wondering how long it was going to take to correct him. I didn't have the heart. Although it would have been cool if the war crimes trials after WWII had taken place in Nurburg! Make it a game -- turn a sub 9 minute lap and you get acquitted. Over 9 minutes = life in prison. Over 10 minutes or crash = death penalty.
Great idea. Let them drive a .... kubelwagen Watch how they struggle to break 8 minutes in that thing
