Not from why I see.... here is the info for your post at 6:16 / post 65 of this thread: The IP Address is: 69.108.85.250. The host name is: adsl-69-108-85-250.dsl.irvnca.pacbell.net. I did a search for 209.39.104.121 which was the IP Tillman posted, no other matches except for one........it would appear that he started an account as NNO RRRRE to make one post last year in Carbon's Name-Change Update... thread.
matteo: If you changed the ip address of your local computer to his ip address, and changed the to his gateway, shouldn't you have problems routing it out of your local network? I would think that it would just send out endless requests looking for the gateway which it can't find since the packets can't get past the local network into the rest of the network. Even if it managed to get out to your ISP (and I think most ISPs would filter their ip ranges) and your ISP passed the packets off to the host you want, getting any sort of response would be impossible since the routes setup for your fake ip point back to Tillman's computer. So your computer could never get any response packets back, which would work for a DOS attack but not so much for posting and such. Unless of course you all were in the same network, which would simplify most of that a good bit. Just wondering if I'm totally off in my understanding of routing or what... Erik
you are correct...unless you can route to a trusted host or have access to a internet DNS router I when the trusted router route. By changing the packet headers, you can get around the trusted host issue very easy. That is all I can go into on a public forum
No, there is a single exception to the two account rule. All current/former moderators are allowed to have an account that is a variation on Carbon's user name in order to make fun of him. NNO 4RE = MarkPDX NNO Ferrari = Darth NNO McBenzo = Jordan NNO RRRRE = Tillman I have no clue what you mean........ As far as I can tell vB records an IP associated with initial registration and then one associated with every post a user makes.
You're not missing anything. Matt's claim is that someone hacked an account, 'saw' the IP address, and managed to make posts TO FERRARICHAT that looked TO THE SERVER like they were coming from that other IP. All Matt's managed to do so far is change his local IP. No big deal, anyone can do that. Now the trick is to make the server think that's the real source IP. He still has time....
I posted with the IP. We are trying to figure out if the software overwrites the IP log, as Mark is finding out.
Nope, not according to the server. If the server 'overwrote' the spoofed IP with the real one, doesn't that make your argument mute? Off for a while, have fun. xoxoxox
Let me make a departure from the Ween Fencing currently in progress. Does anyone have a copy of the chat log? I'd like to read. Thanks.
Yes and NO. If I posted with your 2nd account IP and the reposted with my DSL IP, the log should and will show a change. Had I posted with your account and IP the log would not show an IP change.
???? Info I see for that thread is...... The IP Address is: 69.108.85.250. The host name is: adsl-69-108-85-250.dsl.irvnca.pacbell.net.
If it somehow matters I can look at your IP when you are just online if you like I can look at that in a few minutes... right now it's the same as the one I have been posting for you.
I dunno.... As far as I can tell it records the IP for each post, it doesn't matter if you just post once from that IP or 100 times.
Wanna try it tomorrow? I can to a DNS router spoof, Trusted network spoof, Anon site and a packet header and see what hits.
