    Hi Guys,

My speakers as many know here were inadequate with the amount of engine noise to enjoy some music with the engine singing behind my head, now the speakers have ruptured and I want to get the sound system replaced/upgraded in my car.

Any recommendations from fellow Ferraristi about what are the best speakers and systems to get WITHOUT changing the CD changer in the front and using the existing wiring, I want to keep it as original as I possibly can, would be much appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Salman

My 355 has a dealer-fit speaker upgrade, and a v nice Alpine stereo. FWIW it still sounds pretty awful. Just too much background noise I'm afraid- to make any maningful difference I think you would need a subwoofer and amp, but then that will spoil the car's interior.

That said I've only used the stereo twice in 13 months!

    Robert.

I spent a lot of money on my 355 with Genesis power amp and top of the range alpine together with JL component speakers- only to discover the awful truth- dont waste your money!!

The first problem is that the speakers in the front doors are partially obscured by the leather trim panel and secondly the enclosure is 'open' add to that engine noise ect and its hifi disaster. Sure i have a better sound but its not that much better!

The better ones ive seen al have a subwoofer normaly fitted in the passenger footwell- not the best of solutions anyway.

I think probably better for a mild speaker upgrade- be careful about depth!! and a decent head unit and leave it at that!

Did this a two years ago now with a set of Boston Acoustics RC520. Pretty good result as it all went in without much drama. You need to be careful with the choice of woofers as the depth in the doors are pretty shallow. Includes new woofers and tweeters.

Salman - Did you say "Engine Noise"....engine noise? That's music. Someone get a moderator.... lol.

Actually, I have a Alpine head unit with an amp in the trunk. I do concours and the amp is covered with original type carpeting to blend in.

ADS makes great speakers that fit the stock panels. I'm happy with it.

I would not suggest doing it, but I have seen people mount speakers in the firewall behind the seats and perf the leather in order not to have a grill exposed.... Again, I would never do it.

MBQuart makes the best auto speakers IMHO.

I completely removed my stereo. Music is via headphones on trips.
