Got the chance to meet Valentino. What a nice guy!! Very cool guy! I brought my murci model to get signed. Everyone was like "that is such a great idea!"

Nice shots guys! Unfortunately gonna be a few hours before I can post mine....

 

I am certain that there will be more posted on this later but I figured I would take a minute to get it started.

RAC (Rent-A-Cop) team is a new (er) group that has a bit of attitude. Today they were checking car registrations in an attempt to deny dealer cars entry to the display area. I spoke to one of the RACs when I heard about this and he indicated that the owners of the property and the car show are cracking down (there are no owners of the car show). I mentioned that it did not seem that checking registrations was effective and pointed out a couple of dealer cars to him (M5 with stickers, paper plate, dealer plate tossed on the rear parcel shelf and $25k dealer mark up!) His repy was that the proper authorities had been notified. I later saw him making notes about certain cars (For Sale signs) and he had a couple of flyers taken from some cars. And his boss will be at the show next week.

He was also very agressive regarding photographers near or on PCH. Jay will have more on that, I suspect.

 

The RAC guy looked like he had a stick up his @$$. Trying to be all tough and such.

When the Cizeta was revving its engine, he told them to shut it off. Boo!

 

sounds like this RAC guys needs a good beating!

 

I do not know if they were tickets but one guy was writing on paper and puting them on cars that were parked in the 30min area. I told him it applies from 9am to 9pm he did not say anything. it was only 8:12 am.


Who does own the parking lot? Or gives permission for the event? Company or the stores?

 

i missed another great saturday morning =(. Ferrari Boy didn't want to invite his fellow Long Beach buddy.....just joking David =)

 

What was really funny that happened this morning is when the officer that was guarding the entrance. He absolutely blew up at a guy in a 360 that I " let " him join into the line. Originally the officer told him to back up and move to the end of the line where everyone was lined up. The officer stood right in front of his car and wouldnt let him into the entrance and told him to turn back. The officer then started yelling at him and scolded him saying that he shouldnt cut in front of other people. Man that really tore me up because he showed up right after me but just didnt bother to park next to the firelane where everyone was supposed to line up. It wasnt so much as the guy getting scolded but the officer's expression like he was about to draw his weapon if the guy didnt back up. He kind of looked like smokey because of his ranger type hat. That really was hilarious.

 

The RACs are getting pretty aggressive, but hopefully compromises can be reached. I know Starbuck's and Pacific Whey don't want to see this end any more than we do. I just got back from the Meguiar's seminar. Lots of good information. Thanks for the pics guys. I talked to the guy that runs security last week. They met with the Irvine company and tried to address the problems. The one thing they want to discourage is dealers coming and trying to sell cars there. They feel that that isn't what the show is about as it was started and supposed to be for enthusiasts. They also want cars to line up in the parking lot with engines off and no loud music to disturb neighbors. They'll allow cars to enter the main area at 7:00 and cut it off once it fills or most cars have entered. No sneaking in from the center entrance. The goal to to just maintain the original spirit of the show and prevent any mishaps and dealers coming in and hocking stuff. No big deal and I think it's for the best.

I do as well, however it seems the implication of these rules are quite sub-par.

Not that i am suggesting a change, but; exotics are hard to come by, RAC's are not. so if the RAC's drive away the exotics with their attitude and iron fist ruling, the only people that will lose are the spectators and the Company
