Hey Sam, some how I missed this post. 1982 Mondial 8 33k miles, all original Silver/Red Long Island, NY USA [email protected] Image Unavailable, Please Login
Got a local Ferrari independant, QV London, to carry out the work - basically there's a big bulkhead that runs across the car under the rear window. A drill, some solid bolts, and you can fit a 4 point racing harness in - bottom parts re-use the existing seat belt anchor points. Take out the middle armrest and hey presto - room for a kiddy seat. Very very solid and secure. It's always bugged me that 2+2 Ferraris have annoying middle cushions and arm rests that stop you seating 3 across - it's not like the back seats provide enough room for anyone larger than a child anyway. My wife doesn't mind the middle seat - it's the way I take corners that has her concerned. Kids egg me on though so I blame them ;-) Sadly due to business reasons I've had to sell the car - really gutted over that, but when the new business picks up I shall be getting another one. Cheers, TOM

Would the Mondialista out there desire a compiled list of the registry similar to what I did for the Boxer ? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=135862959&postcount=290 I'll do it if there's sufficient interest and no strong negatives. Some people are willing to share some info about their car in certain ways but don't like it to be "formally" recorded and cataloged.
From the looks of things (poll) there are at least 100 of us here. Fyrrari 1991 Mondial-t cab Red/Tan 3,760 miles (yes.. Three thousand seven hundred and sixty!) ALL original from top to tires. build date; 3/1991
After looking closely at this thread one thing has really jumped out at me- nobody seems to actually DRIVE their cars. Mine is an '89 t coupe with 59,000 mi and it is by far the car with the most miles posted on this thread. That's about 3500 mi per year, which is not alot but I see cars 5-10 years older than mine with 4,000, 10,000, 18,000 mi., or whatever. I thought you guys were car guys but it sure doesn't seem like it. I remember reading a quote from Phil Hill a few years back lamenting the fact that nobody drives their Ferraris; they let them sit in the garage, look at them once in awhile, and hope they appreciate in value. Sad, very sad. Well I guess to each his own but for me I finally have my dream car and I am going to do alot of what it was intended for- DRIVING!!!!!!!
I have an 89 t cab. I am 3rd owner. First owner put 14700 miles on in 11 years. Second owner, a collector, put 1000 miles on in 5 years. I bought the car in Sep 2005 and have put almost 3500 miles on in 10 months -- and the summer is just starting. I am going to drive this car a LOT.
Stephen, Stephen... I've owned my t Coupe for five weeks. I was away in Maine for two weeks opening my mother's house, towing boats up and back with my Suburban. I bought my car from the original owner, who put 10,000 miles (a third of it TRACK miles) on it the first year, about 3500 on it the second year and about 350 miles on it the last five years. I've driven my 19,661 (mileage on 5/23/06, purchase date) car over 1400 miles in the three weeks I've been able to drive it. Heck, I drove it 150 miles yesterday to VIR and back for the Shelby American Automobile Club meet. I think you'll find Buzz and a bunch of other people enjoying their cars on a consistent basis, just as you intend to <grin>. I would urge you to allow folks to enjoy their cars in the way that makes most sense to them. I have a large number of customers who DON'T drive their cars on a regular basis, which provided me with a good living <very big grin>. Do I think any less of them for that? Of course not. They're busy people with a lot of cars, most of them. Me, I'll drive my car as often as I can. That's why I bought it... -Peter
Well, when during the first two years of ownership it was 8000 miles away from my primary residence and now it is one of five vehicles in the fleet...
Peter, I hear you and absolutely agree with you that people should be allowed to enjoy their cars anyway they want. I just find it kind of puzzling that more than just a few Ferrari owners never seem to really enjoy these fine cars for what they are. I begrudge no one for trying to make a buck. It's the American way. Happy 4th! Steve
