The engine is so massive we have to reduce the fuel and water lines from the dyno to fit so we won't be running until tomorrow. I think a bit less. Best
If its stock I'd guess 140 - 145 (maybe a little less). If you're over 130, she's ready to go! Hope all goes well tomorrow Jim. Regards, Art S.
Nitrous and some of those fancy spark plugs with 3 or 4 electrodes Engine looks great Jim, a credit to you and your team
for you re: this years targa florio. perhaps you could email me or suggest a thread where we can converse? I own a 64 330. love the car; don't care for the public image too much. cheers
330 4HL, Welcome aboard! To communicate directly with Jim, send him a PM (left click his name and options will appear). For everything else related to 330 road cars go to www.tomyang.net Regards, Art S.
Tom S., Why do you think it will peak at 6000rpm? Because it's fresh or just the nature of the motor? Art S.

If its a basically stock two liter with 8.5:1 compression it will probably only make 92hp. if you ran it on 1940's fuel (81 octane) probably less. Freeman
122. Are you going to run it with it sitting on the oil pan, or actually use the engine mounts? I know the torque isn't huge, but..... Looks beautiful!
We hadn't finished fuel/water adapters at that point and done final hook up. As I like to run a 150 shot of NOS we're going to bolt her down...
Oh good - I'd hate for it to go tumbling... NOS? Heh, I'd like to see that! What break in procedure are you planning? Do you start gently with a motor from this era?
We've been spinning it for a while. We fully rebuilt it after the head gasket gave up at the top of Mt Etna.
The original late 1947 / early 1948 166 engine should be in the range of 120 HP, or 10-15 % more by SAE ratings. As far I know these early engines didn't use the Vandervell "Thin Wall" bearings already, the deal was made only later, think early 1949 or so. If the engine has been rebuilt with modern components it may rev considerably higher than in 1948, ratings of 140 (DIN) resp. 160 (SAE) would not surprise me.
