I love Santa Barbara. Try the going to the pier and eat at the first restaurant whether for breakfast or dinner. Love their waffle... Oh BTW, DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR ON THE PIER. On my last road trip, I replaced all 4 tires to be safe. Well, after I came back off of the pier, the car was flat. I didn't know of the flat til' maybe a mile or two...needless to say, the rim ate into the tire on a sunday evening and destroyed that new tire I just bought. I couldn't find any tire shop that carries size 19. So again, DO NOT DRIVE YOUR CAR ON THE PIER.
I've had no problems on the pier but thanks for the warning. I'm in if my car is back from the body shop by the time you guys do this. Any dates yet? If my car's not back, is a Mini Cooper S welcome?
Just something for you guys to think about in terms of scheduling to go to, or to avoid, big car show in Santa Barbara end of Apirl. Wheels and Waves Annual Hot Rod and Classic Car Show Downtown Santa Barbara April 22nd & 23rd, 2006 400 Hot Rods and Classics from across America will be on display for one day only. There will be live music, great food & beverages. Judging of cars will be done by jury and the public The 'jury' is Chipp and Sam Foose. http://www.wheelsandwaves.com/index.html
Fantasticly fun road. I'm not sure about all these other suggestions about Mexican food. Does anyone else have any reservations about driving through winding, bumpy roads right after having a pressurized gastronomical buzz bomb? Somebody is bound to have to yield the trail for as pit stop.
We usually do the winding and more aggressive driving before lunch. Minor bumps and grinds after lunch.
La Superica is fantastic, best mex youll ever have, i dont think it would be a good Ferrari lunch stop, always crowded on the weekends and no parking
How does 4/2 look to everyone. If it looks good we'll put together a starting place and time. I'm guessing we'll meet at ********** and go from there. Let's hear what everyone has to say.
Can't make it on the 2nd. Unfortunately, I'll be on vaca through the 4th. If it happens on the 9th, then put me down.
I'd be happy to help plan but I'm out of the country until the 9th April. The Biltmore restaurant is closed, so forget about that one. Cava works (as always), Super Rico has absolutely the best and cheapest food but absolutely no parking. There is no problem with driving on the pier (Sterns Wharf) and the food is OK. Cold Srings is fun, but parking can be a problem (lots of MCs during the weekend). I'll try and think of some place that has plenty of parking. Bob
Its been awhile since I've been there on a weekend, but I recall the motorcycles being gone by noon to one-ish. Though cars do hang around. However I'm sure they would co-operate with parking if you told them they'd be getting the standard motorcycles and a host of Ferraris. Other possible restaurants to think about; Pascucci in Goleta. Good reasonably priced Italian food. Lots and lots of parking, because its in a shopping center... Luckys in Montecito. Steakhouse. I'm fairly sure they do lunch on the weekends. High quality food at a high price. Cafe Buenos Aires. South American (not Mexican) food. Its in downtown SB so parking would be a potential issue. Awesome food though. Dargan's Irish Pub and Restaurant. Also in downtown. Good pub/Boston/Irish ambience, and pool tables.
Aha, lightbulb. There is a Porsche club that uses the Harbor Restaurant on Stern's Wharf. Valet protected parking. And I assure you all that Stern's Wharf will not hurt your car.
