Hi,please help.I had to replace the wire that runs into the fuel pump on my GT4, in my haste however it kind of exploded when I took it apart. After locating all the parts from around the workshop and reassembling it I have a very small metal washer and a slightly bigger paxolin or nylon type washer, the marks on the two suggest that they go together like a bearing but im not sure exactly where, have any of you guys stripped one of these pumps or maybe has an exploded diagram. Many Thanks Gareth
The pictures in my post to your original thread don't show these parts? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=97218 Did you take apart the electric motor portion of the pump, or the lower body? These parts you describe don't ring a bell with me, with what can actually be taken apart on these pumps (I should have mentioned in that previous post that it really isn't worth anyone's time to try to rebuild the electric motor part... Been there, done that...).
Thanks for the reply Peter. I took the pump part to pieces first, this all went well then I removed the motor body and had to prise off the brass coloured disc to get to the rotating magnet,I had to tap the motor shaft to remove this piece so I could withdraw the motor(whilst pulling the motor brushes back)to gain access to the soldered end of the wire. I am guessing that they are a bearing for the motor shaft somewhere, does anybody have a broken or partially dismantled motor that I could buy or borrow? Gareth
Do they fit onto a shaft end and are there any witness marks where that shaft end might sit? Chances are you're right and they're a bearing and I would only guess that the metal washer goes against the end cap and the plastic one against the rotating part. Either that or the bits are from something else that flew apart and you lost on another occasion! Best of luck.
mmmmmm...............they are defininitely from the pump but I think they are from the motor shaft side of things, the only witness mark is on the paxolin washer that shows the metal washers lies against it,I took the motor shaft out but not sure if they go one end or the other, thanks for input guys, looks like I will have strip it again.DOH!! Gareth
Just go to Napa and get one for $65. I believe it was for a Fiat. I did this a few months ago. I could dig up the P/N if needed. Ten minutes and back on the road!
US parts store similar to halfords but they actually stock car parts! (rather than tents and bicycles!) The English variation would be to find a decent (trade) motor factors and ask nicely for them to cross refference it with any Fiat bits in stock
