this is a more accurate type of belt tension tool a Borroughs type http://cgi.ebay.com/BELT-Tension-Timing-Belt-Gauge-Universal-OTC-6673_W0QQitemZ4643262748QQcategoryZ43991QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
I have one of the Borroughs type, it works fine with conventional V-belts, but doesn't fit the Gates Polygrip belts the 3x8 series uses. Hence looking for the Gates 150.
Verell, Try http://www.midwayautosupply.com/detailedproductdescription.asp?13199 Hopefully they have it in stock. Regards, Milton
If you still haven't found your gates 150 tool, I just bought the exact model called a Krikit II. It shows the tension in LBS> and KG. I bought it at NAPA Auto parts. It was in stock. The part number is KR2 7401-0102 V- Ribbed tension gauge. It was $13.72 plus tax. It's a funky little tool. It is the same tool as pictured as sent by Wade on 5-29-06. Take Care, Tom
I too received the Out-of-stock from M&D. My local Napa didn't have the KR2 7401-0102 in their system. it was listed as NBH KR-2. They also had the KR1. And to take a little detour.... anybody have the rubber hose cutter part # for the sears tool? All the Sears stores in my area have no idea what I'm talking about & I haven't seen it on their web site. I have seen one in Home Depot ($17) & was wondering if it was the similiar.
I got the M&D out of stock notice too. But I'm keeping mine on order and see what they say in a couple weeks. They must be over there wondering what the hell is going on! "Why is everyone ordering this thing all the sudden?" Birdman
I still wish they made the original gauge gatesI think a inverted fish scale may yeild more acurate results?
Has anyone tried to order from Midway Auto Supply? Just wondering if they run out of stock also. Milton
Hey! Mine just showed up! Gates Krikit I Belt Tension Guage. Only took a month. Now how do you use this confounded gadget.....? Birdman
They sent me an e-mail within a day that told me it was out of stock and asked if I wanted to cancel the order or leave it on backorder. I said just send it when it comes in. Took a month, and I completely forgot about it. But here it is. Birdman
Thanks guys. I'm getting ready to do a belt change and wonder how well the spring tensioners work when the belt is installed with due diligence and also what the existing tension is, after almost 5-years and maybe 8000 miles. Bill
My experience is that the cam belt tensioners work fine after they've been thoroughly cleaned & re-lubed. My Gates tensioner arrived the other day, after I'd given up & stopped by NAPA & bought a KR-1 & KR-2. Anyone need one for $20 + shipping?
Thanks for the feedback Verell. Judging by the previous posts, it appears M&D will respond within a day or two as to whether they have it in stock or not. If not, and no one else takes you up on the offer in the mean time, I will. Bill
I ordered mine yesterday and got a confirming email. Since then, I haven't heard anthing, so I assume they have some stock. Bill
I ordered mine from the same place yesterday and got shipping confirmation today, so they do have the tools in stock...20 bucks including shipping isn't too bad. Thanks guys, great info! /td
I got my belt tensioner guage from M and D Mower today looks good and came with instruction not that I need it but its good to have all for $20.00
