I am thinking about removing my cats to see if there are any gains (for the track only of course), but I can't seem to find any videos of this being done on a 360 with a Tubi. I was wondering if anyone here knows where to find something like that. Also, if anyone has done it, what are you doing about the CEL? On my Lotus I used extensions for the O2 sensor's that took the downstream O2's more out of the exhaust stream, it worked great, however I am not sure if it will work on a 360. Any info is appreciated!

No cats is the best way to go as far as power goes. The CEL light will no ttrigger any limp mode either. On all cars that we have sold test pipes to report a CEL. The only video I have is a car with Harmony headers, Test pipes, and TUBI NGT exhaust. Not sure which exhaust you have.

why not just use the hyper flow cats? They are supposed to flow nearly as well as a straight pipe. In CA it's not worth the hassle with smog, etc for the little extra you gain on straight pipes, vs. hyper flow cats.

Here is my recent post on the subject:

Ray, I have the ability to fabricate my own test pipes so it's not cost effective to buy the hyperflows for me. BTW Hyperflows are not Ca OBDII approved anyway, so they are just as illegal as test pipes according to the BAR and the CARB. As I said this is for the track anyway and as effecient as the Hyperflows are, they are definitley not as efficient as a pair of pipes not to mention a lot less underhood temp.
Harmony, impressive rear wheel gain from your headers, however that appears to be two different cars in the video, did it get painted inbetween the dyno runs? Do you have a dyno test results from cats to test pipes with no other changes. BTW I have a standard Tubi.

That is not correct. Feel free to contact me or Troy @ HyperFlow for the specifics of his certification.

Do you sell the Hyperflows for 360's? Thinking of ditching the cats also.

That's incorrect. The hyper flow cats are 50 state smog legal.

Apparentley my source about Hyperflows not being Ca legal was wrong. I stand corrected, I didn't know Hyperflow had Exective order and CARB approval. You have to give it up to the knowledge that is available on this forum. Thanks for the information guys!

I have straight pipes (no cats) and a Tubi NGT on my CS. It sounds amazing.

For the CEL issue (it freaked me out a bit at first), you get used to it. However, to be sure the CEL is related to emissions each time it illuminates, I purchased a scan tool that plugs into the OBDII port under the dash to read the CEL error codes and reset them. It then takes about 40-60 miles of driving before the CEL comes back on.

The sound is definitely worth the CEL bs.

There are ways to trick the OBDII into thinking the cats are still there, the first being a low tech spacer that lifts the rear o2 out of the exhaust stream a bit. The second being a little higher tech, it's an electronic simulator that simulates the resitace sent to the computer to tell it the cats are working. The problem is, I haven't heard of anyone doing this on an F-car. I dont know what sim will work, and I am not sure that the spacer will work (it did on my 98 Lotus). I guess I will find out and let you guys know.

I know of a few folks that move the O2 sensor out of the stream, and they claim it works well. Cheap 'n' easy.

I still wonder how you pass an emissions test without cats... (apart from a $100 bill to the operator). Then again, when I had pipes on my 348 (I now have HyperFlows), the car actually blew clean numbers if it was nice and hot. Might have been a fluke, might have been a whacked out gas reader too.

I heard about placing a spacer in between. I haven't had much time to spend identifying what works. If you find out, please let me know!!!
