I'm curious about this, too. I'd like to have the build sheet for my 330GTC.

Yes they do exist, but as I understand it you can no longer get them from the factory. You can go through the Classich procedure and get most of the info, but not copies of the sheets.

You can obtain build sheets and other records from Ferrari.
    click on this link
    http://www.ferrariworld.com/FWorld/fw/index.jsp
Click on English, then Enter and you will be on the index page.
    Click on 'Owners Site'.
    You will have to register with certain details. When you have registered you will have access to the Owners Site. There you will find the Historic Archive section for obtaining various papers; QUOTE;
"The Historic archive section provides unique access to Ferrari's own archives, enabling owners to order copies of their car's original papers. Ferrari can supply the following documents: the Heritage certificate (which confirms the car's build numbers), build sheet, homologation certificate with all the original data of the model, CSAI (Italian Automotive Sporting Commission) homologation certificate with original racing specifications (where available) and the owner's handbook."
Let us know how you get on.

That web page is a little out of date. Build sheets are no longer available through the owner's site. The factory now considers them 'internal' documents. Instead they offer the Ferrari Classiche section has a Car Certification program to authenticate an older Ferrari.

Sorry if I gave you dud information, but I checked it this morning and it's still on there exactly as I paste & copied it. Maybe Ferrari need to update their website?

Check Tom Yang's board. It's all vintage 12, maybe someone there knows up to date info. I got the buildsheets for my car in '03 through the program described on the factory website.

Here is the contents of an email from the Ferrari Owner's site I received last October:

The Classique application starts with a €500 fee plus whatever costs associated with getting your car inspected, presumably at a Ferrari dealer. FNA recently donated a completely paid application at the FCA annual meet for the benefit auction. The claimed value was $3000. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=114590.

The FNA Rossa magazine #25 has a story on the Classique department.

In it, the inspection fee for cars 20-25 years old is $1500. Older than 30 years is $3000. They also state that a build sheet will be issued for an additional $1000 for an authenticated car.

If the car doesn't have the original components, Ferrari can supply new components and certificate it. The number I have heard for a new 250 block is €20,000. That's the block only, you then have to build the engine and presumably get the car inspected again after installation. I would also think that the build sheet that they would issue would reflect the new block's internal motor number, not the original. BTW, the new block does not have the chassis number stamped on it. Instead there is a 'Classique' stamp.

Yes they do have build sheets, and I recall going to my local dealership (Grand Prix Motors, Seattle/Ron Tonkin Portland) and being able to get one but in the late 1980's (1989 I believe) they stopped allowing the public to access them in order to suspend counterfeiting that had been going on.

Some Ferrari models had gotten so expensive that there were several replica cars manufactured in Italy and elsewhere (even Lord Brock, etc). Charlatans would get a build sheet, fabricate a chassis, restamp a donor engine and buy spare parts at one of their dealer service counters (allegedly this is what caught the eye of someone suspicious). Several relpica GTOs come to mind but I know several other models were replicated.

The Factory caught wind of this and shut down public access to the build sheet records.

There is the next best thing if your car was purchased in the USA; Chinetti Motorsports delivery records. Algar now has these records and may be able to deliver you a copy of the sheet detailing te car as delivered. Aks for Li in the Parts department, he can be quite helpful.
