Hello, I hope someone here can answer or provide pointers for the questions below... Here goes, I have this friend very passionate about cars and Ferraris, he owns several 246GT, 308, etc. He has decided to built a 308 Michelotto accurate replica, as close to the original as he can. Crazy idea from my point of view as only 12 cars where built and he'll have trouble coming up with parts. Luckily the Stratos Gr.4 and the 308 Michelotto share a few parts, wheels, instruments, etc. and these can be sourced. The trouble starts with the rest. He's looking specifically for: - Lightweight 308 doors - Front and rear 308 body sections that can be removed from the car (Michelotto style) - Kugelfisher 8 cylinder injection pump - Other stuff if someone has a source or ideas Thank you for your time and support.
It's likely that your friend will be making (or having made) many of the parts himself! I can't imagine certain parts, like the body panels for example, being available.
Is it too late to convince him of the folly? A well maintained, euro, carbed, dry sump GTB is the rarest these days....... I'd take his hacksaw away if I were you...... Buy a 288GTO and call it "done".....ROTFLMAO! They are going nowhere but 'up' as well.............
If its the same as this one I have a few pics that might be of use Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a 308 GT/M, not a 308 GTB/M. See my avatar for an example of a 308 GTB/M. Maybe the original poster's friend could contact an owner of a real GTB/M to take moulds? Best, Peter

The truth of the matter is very few people know what a 308 Michelotto is, very few were built, hence the rarity of information and parts.
whatever you say. the owner of Ferrari of Atlanta and everyone else at the track event here a week ago referred to the car as a " 308 LM " . i am friends with the owner and the cars were butchered as needed for racing. i was also told that at one particular event, FOA's 308LM ( not the one in the pic above ) had to have the " tail spoiler " shaved off due to outcry from the competion. so they sawed off the ducktail of the 288GTO body work flush, rather than replacing any panels. look what the older 60s P4 racecars have been through. 308s were even less important to many during the time they raced in GT2. cool thread though. very little info out there. i though my pics may help. Here's the 1st Michelotto car: http://wspr-racing.com/ferrari/308/frame308.html This is what he's trying to replicate.
I'm not judging only stating the fact that it's not a GTB/M. But since you brought this up using the name "308 LM" is incorrect because no 308 ever raced at Le Mans, not even the 308 GT/4 Dino NART (withdrawn). Cool car though. Best, Peter
Nice! I noticed that it doesn't have the flared rear wheel arches but that seems to be correct, looking at the scale models on this site: http://www.arenamodelli.com/ferrari.htm Best, Peter
My understanding is that the first 11 cars were compliant to Group 4 specifications. The later 5 cars were compliant to Group B specifications and didn't have the wide rear arches.
Interesting. Hope this isn't going too much off-topic but how did Ferrari homologate these five cars to group B specification when group B demanded a minimal of 200 built cars? The 288 GTO wasn't ready yet. Best, Peter p.s. really hoping Niki Bellagarda will publish his 308 GTB/M book any time soon!
Check out "Wanted 308 Race Car Photos" at... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=122441 (and secondly, to all of you who posted shots on this thread, how come you never sent to the 308 race car thread?! I'd love to transfer these shots to othet thread.)
Actually, after googling, Ytubing etc. etc. the hole f**king cyperspace, I haven't seen this before !!!! Thanks a lot
