You know, I've heard that the "Brotherhood Connection" IS the best radar detector Cheers, Aaron '82 GTSi '83 400iA
Ze Peoples Socialists Republik of Kalifornia Revenue Departments are sold on the Stalker Dual radar unit which sends out a very powerful Ka signal for a few miles away. That signal is so strong, it will bounce off objects and into the receiver of any quality radar detector alerting to the presence of a Revenue Officer. My Beltronics Vector 945 does its job very well, is physically small, mounted very discreetly and though I cannot see the lights from where it's mounted, the voice alert is sufficient to where it has saved my butt several times.
Too many false alarms on Z band whilst snoozing, but I keep it on, just in case I am dreaming of speeding....
I'll second "worthless". I bought one for the Elise I used to own since the V1 would not stay plugged in. I also used it in my P/U and promptly got a ticket so I decided to use it alongside the V1 to see how they compared. I sold the Solo at a yard sale this past summer. It was pathetic. When I bought my 328, it had built in K40 and I compared it to the V1. The K40 was completely worthless. Dave
V1. Hard wire in Jetta, cig. lighter for the other cars. Each car has its own windshield mount. One unit, just move it from car to car as needed. I took the unit to a saddle shop and had them make a covered hard-case for it so I could carry it with me if necessary (never leave it in the car!). I had the shop sew in a used Mike's Holster belt clip so I can put it on my belt. Oregon coast cops use X-band in the "hills".
One more vote for Valentine. Saved my bacon every time, so far. (knock on wood) Hmmm, looks like a general consensus.
Looks like every single person in this thread has a V1. I have one but didnt know how much people we obsessed. Im now obsessed with my V1.
