We're having the 5th Annual Primavera Texana Del Motore "Lunch Commute" Saturday, April 28th. We'll be leaving from Carrollton and ending up in Sherman. Jonathan Peck at RUF Auto Centre has volunteered the location at the starting point. Thank you to Ruf and Jonathan for supporting the club. Ruf Auto Centre is located at 3219 Commander Dr, Carrollton, TX 75006. Commander Drive runs west off of Midway a few blocks north of Keller Springs. We are gathering around 9, leaving at 9:30. It's important that we leave on time, and I'll explain why at the starting location. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=3219+Commander+Dr,+Carrollton,+TX+75006&layer=&sll=32.977168,-96.84934&sspn=0.01215,0.015278&ie=UTF8&z=16&om=1&iwloc=addr The route will incorporate some driving on tollroads to get out of the Metromess. Please bring along $2.00 in quarters or a tolltag. The route is about 120 miles to the destination in Sherman, and should take around 2 hours to run. We'll be ending at a steakhouse just off the highway in Sherman. After lunch, it's about an hour back down I75 to the McKinney/Allen area. There's no entry fee for this run, but you are responsible for toll costs and your lunch. Due to insurance requirements, there will not be any competition or awards this time. It's good friends, good roads, and good times. Norwood Performance and 4M Paint and Body have donated some door prizes to be raffled off at the destination. Thanks to both organizations; they are both great supporters of the local exotic community The route includes many miles of 2 lane rural roads. Please remember that this is not a race nor a speed contest, and all participants are expected to observe all applicable local and state laws. While the route has been checked for suitability, the possibility always exists for damage caused by debris in the road or other situations. The organizers of the event and club officers cannot be responsible for any damage. Drive friendly Please let me know if you're coming to the run, as I need a head count for the restaurant and for creating maps. If you have questions, please contact me via email (faster) or by phone @ 214-695-4764 (please leave a message). Please see http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144421 for updates. Thanks for your participation in the club events. Don't forget that the club is having a car show at Boardwalk Ferrari Maserati June 2, organized by Rob Lay. See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=144688 for details on that event.
I hate to miss a Tillman rally but will have the red pants on that weekend working the "Nelson". Have fun!
Frankly, I screwed up. I don't think there's enough lead time to get the artwork created and the shirts sold/ordered/printed/delivered before the 28th. I'm going to be out of pocket much of April and won't have a lot of time to work on this. Sorry Entry list Grigio 328 GTS Blank 328 GTS
It pains me that I can't help with organizing the spring rally this year like I did for the last couple of years. As I shared with Tillman a while back, "real life" is pulling me in a bunch of different directions lately and if I'm ever going to OWN a Ferrari, I need to keep my focus on the things that will get me there (namely, making $$$). I remember Jim (Cicero) basically saying the same thing back in 2005 when he "passed the reins" over to me for the Spring event. Now I know where he was coming from!
Man, I want to make this, but with this silly "job" thing I have to call it 50/50. Not to mention I never know what wheels will be available to me come April 28th... Given past rides, I think it would be inappropriate of me to bring either a Ferrari or my own personal vehicle. I have a reputation for mooching VW's to uphold, after all.
Plan on meeting up around 9, leaving 9:30 ish, lunch around 11:30 That's the normal timeframes, although we always seem to run a bit late. The starting point & route will not be publicly published. Starting point will be sent via email/PM to those who have let me know they are coming. Maps will be handed out at the starting point. Last year's thread, for those who are interested: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=100969 (Man, I love this email-notice-when-reply feature)
On April 28th I will be setting up for a little get together at Parrot Head Park - I mean Pizza Hut Park. Jimmy Buffett is having a concert that evening, but we're expecting 350+ people in our little group for a parking lot extravaganza - stop by on your way back for a margarita or two...
Hey Will, my brother is tentatively planning to ride along... but if he craps out you can take the seat. T
Date looks good to me at this point. Thanks for organizing Tillman. Jim, I could use one of your extra t-shirts.... Got any XXLs? )
Looks like I wont be able to make this one. Unless something changes I have an out of town golf tournament that weekend.
Just got back from a scouting run. Gotta tell ya, I LIKE this route. Maps are good for planning, but you never really know until you get there what the roads are like. Let's see Grigio 328 Blank 328 Silver 355 Black M3 or White Teg Whatever supercar Chet comes up with Red 355 Red Firearri Mondial 8 Red 308 Titanium 360 Another White Teg One of Don's 37 512Ms Blue 328 Not too bad so far
Add Greg M. (whom some of you met the F1 party) to the list with his '99 355 Spider. I may have to ride shotgun with him at this rate, though.
