i have 30 songs but my computer is brocken and my mp3 is only 512 mb i need a new good computer and a ipod soon ! :l
Just wanted to say thanks for purchasing your music. It's much appreciated I have 0 MP3's, I only listen to .wav files. Don't ask how many I got, I don't know.
I'm dumb on this stuff, I got some questions: If I buy an iPod (etc.), do I get software to convert my current CD's to MP3's ? If not what do I need to get ? Do all MP3 players give the same 'quality' audio ? I know the compression makes it sound crappy compared to an actual record or even a CD, but are all MP3 players giving out the same audio ? I'm real close to buying a Nano...
Plus another 60+ gigs on my pc back at the room...so around 600 gigs...give or take. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hu? Do i leave it on? Yes. Why? I have a ruckus account (www.ruckus.com) with my college and then i have a program that converts the ruckus stuff to mp3's. For the rarer stuff, i use Oink. For buying stuff (i buy quite a lot of mp3's still) i just use itunes and then convert them to mp3
Itunes will convert them for you, or just about any other music player software you can put on your computer. Some convert better than others. I use Roxio's Audio Central. The mp3 converter sounds really good in it. Yes, essentially all they do is play the file, so it's the conversion that's really important. Also with the players, you have different headphones, which sound better or worse depending on what you buy. If you use a good mp3 converter and buy an ipod with the white earbuds, you'll be alright. You can buy better headphones, but you're listening to mp3's...so you know... The different players are more about different features/build quality than anything. I'd imagine some of the really cheap ones have lower quality sound due to cheap connections, etc.
Thank you. I do know that the weakest link is the earbuds, so I will be buying some of the upper-end Sennheisers, or a set of the iRiver's, each are about $50. I know the Bose are supposed to be good 'because of the brand name recognition', but the reviews on them are just terrible. And, not for $100.00. So does iTunes convert better than the Roxio you mentioned, or are they the same, or what ? I have iTunes on this machine, I suppose I can dink with it... I'm leaning towards the current gen Nano 4gb because the refurbs are $149, free shipping, and 1 yr warranty. I know, I already said that once...
The itunes converter is alright. I'm a record Producer, so I'm really f'n picky about sound quality. Take a .wav file and convert it to mp3 with itunes, set it to 190kbps, and see if you can stomach the quality If it's ok, then sure, it'll work for you. Most people probably can't hear the difference.
I guess I could call my buddy Chip Davis and ask him, but I think he's all old school, like me. You are right, though, most people cannot hear the difference between .05 THD and 5% THD. I gotta figure out how to just pull songs off of my CD's and convert them to MP3's, then I'm set. Maybe next week I will dick with it.
ic. i was just curious. i can't leave my pc on 24/7. not enough fan to make sure proper ventilation in the CPU. i'm planning to get an iBook in the near future. but, the iPod is first, and for the iBook, maybe by end of this year. Chris, how does this Oink thing work? do u need to subscribe to it or something?
