Hooray!! If anything needs tweaking, or if you need to use a lift, I'm sure Ed will be happy to help you out.
Missed the glorious event, but very happy that Dave and Andreas got to see and hear it after Temple Farms and the pyramids. Here are a few of the latest pics...working on the video files for the engine noise as well. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I can't believe the way this car sounds. Amazing! You guys should be proud of the way you carried this project through. Dave

Hiya Dave and thank you much! glad you could swing by and take a peek at it, so close to being ready. Might not be missing any more events.
That looks totally cool! Very nice fabrication work...you are truly an artist! As a former northern Illinois native (I used to live in Gurnee), I was planning a driving trip back there the end of September for a wedding. Do you all hit any of the local hot spots to show the cars at, like the Gurnee Mills Mickey D's? I'd love to see it when I'm back there....
Thanks Kraig, it is going to be lots of fun very soon, I just took it out for its first drive over 40, still have some work to do, but it is really coming together. We live in Gurnee, and used to go to the McD's for the Friday night festivities, but have not done that in a long time, I think they might be done for the year. I will swing by tomorrow and see if they are still doing it. Once the car is done, I doubt that it will not have a day of rest until the first snow fall! If you are heading up to the Gurnee area for the wedding, feel free to swing by..have a safe trip.
Don't mind if I do After living in Gurnee for over 15 years, I still have a ton of friends there. I'll be staying at the good 'ol Gurnee Holiday Inn! I'll head over to the McDonald's on Friday, the 22nd of September and have a look-see. Keep an eye out for a blue 550i with CA plates. Don't feel confident driving the F-car all the way out there!
They are still doing it...I have never seen so many cars there...triple parked...had to be a hundred or so. We will be there! Just look for the car.
Well it's been a long time since we posted anything and as the car has been in a few shows and on a few drives successfully I thought it might be a nice idea to post an update showing the "finished" car. While nothing like this is ever completely finished and there will always be small modifications as we notice things that might work better the car is a usable driver that's no longer fouling plugs or only able to be trailered, heck, it even made a trip in the rain to Naperville. Next big change we hope will be the new intake - to get a little more power, a little better sound, and a more authentic look we are planning on switching the intake for the one pictured below with 12 individual throttle bodies. Anyway - here's some pics and video here's a few videos of the car running and moving around a parking lot. No burnouts or anything crazy, it's just to show how it sounds and prove it moves under it's own power Please right click and select "save as" because the webserver they are on isn't meant to serve video I know they are larger than they need to be but I'm a server admin, not a multimedia guru http://members.core.com/~blonnde/new/GTO183.MOV http://members.core.com/~blonnde/new/GTO184.MOV http://members.core.com/~blonnde/new/GTO185.MOV and here's some images of it inside and out Thanx to all who have followed this thread over time. Fantastic looking, can't wait to see the car again at VA! Are you putting the front headlight plexis back on?
nice! post some pics of the "green car " ..... i have to go find quicktime, my copy must be corrupted. did you modify the BMW ECU for the different fuel injection, or is it a stand alone system with direct port injection and an adjustable map you can optimize with a laptop? i bet its a hoot to drive on the track!
Thanx guys Wish there were more drives happening... miss those days... Skip, let's go to Freddies!!! get everyone together, sit at the dock bar... Andreas, yupp... still playing with the fit - didn't want to attach them till they fit right - would cheapen the whole thing.. below are a couple pics of the lens almost fitting right (we made them in the oven! Kim made plaster forms and we just gravity formed them) and the roughed out, not completely filed aluminum trim, and a couple other pics. Michael, The Electromotive Tec3r will run that EFI system, it just needs to be programmed. I'll try and get over to take some pics of the green car for ya soon The red car still needs to be sorted out on the track, so right now it's a little scary on the track at the moment.. lol... brake bias needs to be settled on and on rough roads it's a bit squirrelly, and I've never set up a road course car before - so it's a lot of trial and error.. but it does have loads of power... I'd love to get a day on a high speed oval to see how fast it goes before it can't push the air any harder snj5, thanx! it's still a work in progress Tillman - thanx! come up and drive it sometime! other pics are the engine as it was at the Carlisle show, and the car on display there Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
