heres an outsiders eg non US pov guys. (pls dont shoot the messenger its just my thoughts and opinions)

with long waiting lists and only 15 or so cars a yr being made, Pagani have no need to make any cars for the US market.

i understand that the US could be an important market but lets face simple facts - your rules governing importation/sale of new cars is overly complicated, very strict and with quite harsh limitations. This makes it an expensive proposition to make the cars legal and often they lose something of themselves in that process with lots of changes to the original spec.

This isnt a new phenomenom either.
Look at the US spec versions of various exotica of the last 40 years or so - off the top of my head i can remember a few.
Miura & Dino - 2 of the most beautiful cars ever ruined by the addition of hideously ott indicators front and rear
Countach - nasty bumper overriders, a redesigned rear end and less power
F40 - silly (and totally pointless) bumperettes and an extra spoiler that ruins the shape

even most of those that somehow get legal in the US still lose power.

I simply dont understand why a car thats perfectly acceptable in 90% of the world isnt good enough for the US

Because we're all idiots that don't know how to drive, and navigate an automobile at high speeds yet....

Put simply.....The government has to protect us from ourselves, well, atleast the bereaucrats think so.

I don`t think it is because of no driving ability. i think it has something to do, with protecting the american car industry. most of the safety rules were made in the 60th and 70th to protect against european and asian car invasion, which didn´t work as we all know. remember when they tried to stop convertibles in the 60th. this brought us the targa 246,308.328.... GTS concept. if it would be for safety reasons none of the hot rods or custom cars could be allowed. or do you think open wheels and hoods, sharp metal edges etc. are save?
i think Pagani should try to finish his asambly in the US. engine and chassis put together, means the car is built in the US, which would make things much easier. if I remember right I think NOBLE is doing it this way. I think it runs under the kit car rules. well people probabely don´t want to buy a Pagani kit car, but anyway at least you could get a car legal in the US.

I agree that using the same methods as Noble would be the easiest way for Pagani to get around the stringent U.S. auto regulations. Train a sports car shop in the U.S. in Zonda support, ship the car in one crate and engine in the other, have the U.S. shop put the two together and sell it under the kit car rules. Voila!

One reason is cost another is why spend a certain amount of money for a car and have strict rules on when you can drive it. Individuals with this kind of money like to do whatever they want whenever they want and I for one don't blame them. If I had the money I would get something like a CGT and just wait for the full U.S. legal production car. Less hassle and more time enjoying a great car.

the S7 is a mighty impressive car in performance, and has nice looks as well... however, the Zonda is the only one of them that has a soul.

+1...Saleen S7 is crude by comparison-in design, fit and finish, overall jib. and it sounds god awful IMO...flabby and bloated like the typical American muscle car.

Just compare the interior quality of both. For the Saleen though, you could argue it's a race car and who cares about fancy leathers.
