    Hello everybody,

Beneath the carbs of my GT4 there is a base spacer. This base spacer is covered on both sides with oil paper gasket material.
Now the strange thing is that beside these covers there are (extra?) baseplate gaskets added as well.

    Now my questions are:

Is there a need for these extra baseplate gaskets (to my knowledge it will only increase the posibillities of leakage)?
Was this originally done this way by the factory?

    Cheers,

    Ricky

The "extra" gaskets were added and are not stock. Unfortunately, it is very easy to warp the carb bottom base by overtorquing the mounting nuts. Also, the stock gaskets on the thermal spacer will take a "set", so if someone tried to reuse them, perhaps they had some leakage and added the extra gaskets -- just a thought...

That the spacers have been re-used seems to be the most logical explanation.
I will install new spacers without the extra gaskets.

    Thanks,

    Ricky
