Rooms near the elevator suck, not surprised you wanted a room change. It also shows something when you didn't flip after being given another room right next to the elevator.

3 things to order when reserving a room;

1) not near an elevator
2) not directly next to steps
3) nowhere near an ice machine

 

I travel almost every week. Here's my line: I'd like a room away from the elevator and ice machine please--I'm a light sleeper and would appreciate a quiet room. 8 out of ten times I get a quiet room, one time I have to change, 1 time I get stuck. No worries, I'm just trying to reduce my noise exposure and sleep loss.

 

I do the same, but with about 2000 rooms, I did not give it a second thought it would be my luck to be next to the elevator. If you ever get stuck next to the ice maker, just whip out a pre-printed sign that reads ICE MAKE OUT OF ORDER, PLEASE USE MACHINE ON ANOTHER FLOOR. I keep these with me along with a small roll of tape! (Another great thing to bring is a 1 to 3 power plug. Priceless in a hotel room (And an airport to share the one plugs that are almost always in use). If you smoke and get stuck in a non-smoking room, always have a can of air freshener and get a late checkout. Empty the can in your room in the morning before leaving and hang the do not disturb sign on the door. The room will smell good by the time the maids get there at 1:00PM!........Ya, it's ghetto!

 

4) No conjoining rooms

 

When you have a teenage girl, ajoining rooms are the ticket.............Until you get the bill for her room service!

 

Man, you are one annoying customer.

If I am staying in a Casino, I am lucky to be able to find my room after being in the Casino. I could care less where its at. Hell, put me next to the elevator so I dont miss my flight...
