ATTN: MODS I am requesting "STICKY" status. Plans are afoot to hold an event the first week end in October of "08" in or near Memphis.........this will be the first ever major event which encompasses only 308's.....(All Ferraris are welcome, however, THIS IS A 308 EVENT, so dont be mad at us if your ENZO gets snubbed cuz it aint no 308!) I am betting that we can draw 200 or more cars, it will be open to all 308 and 308 derivative ie; 288GTO and F 40's the emphasis will be on the 308's and the others (288's & F 40's) will be primarily eye candy.......I expect that we will be open to any 308 powered race car but not 308 look alikes or abominations. If any one knows of a 308 powered motorcycle, I think that it would be accepted too. Any one who knows of any of the various Ferrari race cars and or track prepared cars, let the owners know and have them sign on. The purpose of this thread is to see what kind of interest there is for a 'drive in' event of this type. If you are interested, please leave your name, the model year and VIN of your car and then stay tuned. This event will not be held under the auspices of the FCA or of the FOC, unless we find that there is some greater advantage to us than we are aware ie; insurance costs financial assistance etc. It was started by a few of us who are on the Ferrari List and FChat and is spreading near as fast as the Calif. fires. This is truly a grassroots endeavor. Please forward this to anyone that you might know who owns a 308 and might be interested.... If you have any ideas about sponsorship, programs, informal agendas etc.......or if you are personally familiar with the Memphis area and any thing or any one there that may be of value to us in putting this together please let me know, we will have created a preliminary committee to investigate and to move this forward within the next few days and I will share this info with them. Our goal is to keep things informal within a frame work with things going on that you may or may choose not to attend but to not have so much going on that you need to choose, you can do all some or none....your choice. Just be there with your Ferrari 308. I hope to meet you in Memphis in '08 with your 308!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JIM
I just looked at your profile....Now I know where I'll find you> Interests: sleeping, watching tv, sitting on the beach and sleeping JIM
I'm in! MOD NOTE to Jim: We don't need to make this "sticky" for an entire year... but feel free to "bump" it up from time to time. I'll be glad to "sticky" a formal notice when it gets nearer and details are more defined.
As the current director of the Southeast Region of FCA, in which your Memphis venue resides, I can tell you that we'd gladly support it if you wish... no pressure... even if it's not an FCA event, but "in cooperation with FCA" our support could include advertising, seed money, resources such as online-signups via credit card, on-site resources such as radios, etc. Again, no pressure... just an offer of assistance.
.....(All Ferraris are welcome, however, THIS IS A 308 EVENT, so dont be mad at us if your ENZO gets snubbed cuz it aint no 308!) You should drive out anyway!!! JIM
I'll see how I can make it. Looks like fun and plenty of time to plan it out and see how long the route is and what other stops I could make during the trip. Of course I need to check with my bride but we'll see .
Me too. I'm 23883. There is no GTS registry, but your's is the closest chassis number to mine I have seen. Aaron
I am interested but I have to be honest, I'm not sure I will drive a 308 from MA to TN! Especially with my history of long drives in Mondials!
Sounds great! I've always wanted to attend a 308 only event. I'm in! Memphis is only 415 miles from Atlanta.
Count us and # 21567 77 GTB. If it was in eastern Tn, the mountain drive down would be nice, but to Memphis maybe this is the way to travel: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I usually go to the ODBA drag boat world finals in Tn that time of year, and mosty it is a great time to be outside. Cool crisp nights, windbreaker days to short sleeve days. Edit: Is it in fact Memphis, or it sounds like that may still be under consideration from the letter. There are some great scenic mountainous areas in Tennessee. Not sure what track facilities are avail.
