Tony, you have backers here! He is a total "package" - very personable, very articulate, team oriented, family oriented, best driver ever, obviously a versatile driver -> karts, F1, LeMans, race bikes, etc. I think it would be a hoot if Ross "somehow" drafted him over to Honda!

    ...I do.terribly.

this guy is just amazingly fast, poised, charismatic...I miss his helmet over the F1 Ferrari cockpit.

although I have to admit our two guys can put up a fight...;)

I do too. IMO, it is not only his racing abilities that is amazing, but like Carol said, and IMO, he is the most complete package in F1 history. Part of me really wants to see him back, but part of me also understands why he does not, family, politics or whatever reason. I only hope that he stays with Ferrari forever and I firmly believe that he will eventually become the team priniciple someday.

+1. Not funny about the Honda thing. :)

Unfortunately, testing times are absolutely meaningless for the spectator. We have no clue how the cars are configured, what they are testing, etc, etc. The teams are not going to share what they are testing with the public either.

I wouldn't read too much into Nakajima's faster time at all.

You are taking this discussion in the wrong direction. People should focus on today's times particularly the difference between #1 and #4.

We don't know which setup they were driving. Maybe Schumacher was on a more extreme setup. Anyway, we knew what Schumacher did when Massa was his teammate, why should it be different today? Yes, he hasn't been driving F1 cars for one year (or has he? Can't imagine he didn't do a couple of laps 'round Fiorano occasionally), but he has huge experience in non-TC cars (wheras Massa doesn't), and, well, he's just still the best :D

...now you are taking it in the wrong direction... ;)

People should focus on today's difference between #1 and the rest...given that he´s being out of an F1 car for a year, with NO traction control, and a car developed for "other" two drivers in mind, with diferent tires...

Would be kind of hard to have the greatest driver, not living, racing, don't you think?

If you define "possible reasons for today's times" as "excuse", then, yes, it's an excuse. Nevertheless, I think it's interesting that some guys here only accept "Massa sucks" as a valid explanation for anything... claiming that he is an average midpack driver doesn't do him justice, Ferrari aren't stupid, there is a reason why they hired him...

I think Schumacher was supposed to run for 2 days only. I am not sure if there was a third day in the test?

Come on, this Massa thing has been pretty civil lately. I mean, nobody has called him waterboy since spring.
