This is the Mondial powerhouse [sic] i mentioned last week, had a chance & went to inspect yesterday, anybody know anything about it? It was *fair* condition for its age [near 25 years old] , all electrics work, except the front bonnet trys to cut your head off!Has not been driven in over 2 years, all the books and docs. are in order.Started and ran fine.Has near 103,000km which i think is huge for a delicate car like a Ferrari. NOT treated like a garage-queen, just sits under the car port rusting away [some signs of surface bubble rust in the undersills], full of dirt, leaves, bugs etc. The guy wants out and is over it, am *trying* to do a swap with a Benz, need to work on his head more and brake him down.He is getting the better deal after all Inform if u know anything about it.Grazie. It is a Aussie car, and sold by the official dealer in QLD.Has new tyres!! He is talking high $50's [On drugs!] The ONLY deal on the table is a straight swap with the Benz. Its a $30 - $40k vehicle. Ciao M
The Mondial, the 400 has 12 cylinders, as all proper Ferrari's do. "The horse is in front of the carriage" Ing.Enzo Ferrari Ciao M
from the pics it looks to be in good cond, looks as is and "honest", make sure it has an Australian compliance plate fixed on does the owner have the shroud around the steering column? (missing from pics) why the ariel mount on the engine cover? not driven in over 2 years???? needs new timing belts and major service $$$$$ front bonnet struts cheap to regas (just did my engine cover struts $35 each) does the sun roof leak? non origional chrome exhaust tips? does it have the factory spares kit, jack etc? all in all it it seems to be ok, if everything else checks out it would be a good buy for the right price, I have a figure in mind of what I would offer, dont think I should post it up though, if you want to know what I would consider the offer to be, message me and Ill let you know Allan
Also you do realise its a Mondial '8' which means its the slowest of all Mondials. Talking about a 0-100 time of 9 seconds....... If your going to get a Mondial then get a Quattrovalvole 'QV' or a 'T' at least that way you wont be outdragged by spikey headed pimple faced youths in Hyundai excels or VN Commodores.
Its good and fair condition for its age, would never be a concours material vehicle, yes its a Aussie spec genuine, not a grey. Well picked, yeap its in the rear boot, screws and all.The alarm is playing funny buggers, is reason it was removed. Previous owner had a phone installed, you picked it again, PUNCHED a hole through the cover/deck for the antenna.ouch-yuk. not driven in over 2 years???? needs new timing belts and major service $$$$$ pffffft, fallacy, no new belts and ran ok. front bonnet struts cheap to regas (just did my engine cover struts $35 each) Yeap, that is a easy one. does the sun roof leak? NFI, didnt attack it with the hose, Italian, most likey will leak.. non origional chrome exhaust tips? Well picked again, i think the origals had the famous tin-worm does it have the factory spares kit, jack etc? Yeap, all present all in all it it seems to be ok, if everything else checks out it would be a good buy for the right price, I have a figure in mind of what I would offer, dont think I should post it up though, if you want to know what I would consider the offer to be, message me and Ill let you know Allan[/QUOTE] Thanks Al, the ONLY deal am interested in a straight swap with a Benz. Ciao M
If i was going to buy a car with money, it would be a Elfin MS8, then i can outdrag GT3's etc etc, not interested in traffic-light GP's anyway. o - 100kmh 9s!!, thats twice as fast as my van, i dont think i can handle all that power.... Ciao M
well at the end of the day it seems to be all ok, if your happy to deal with the guy and everyone is happy then go for it, you wont be dissapointed, good luck with the deal Allan
LOL!, Its a bit of sport for me, the said vehicle is not even the important thing, the wheeling_n_dealing and playing mind games is where its all at Ciao M
That looks like a money pit. And if it sat for 2 years, you need new belts, new hoses, new fluids, etc. And expect things that have gaskets in them, like the fuel pump to die. I think it was 2000, when I sold my '87 3.2 QV Mondial. Aust del, IMMACULATE, red/tan, full correct up to date history, 42,000km - $52,000.
NOT up to me, its his call, the deals on the table, straight swap with a Benz, nothing else on offer, won't be outlaying any coin for it. NOT fussed either way, i DON'T get emotional about any vehicle, others always pop up, just wait a bit. Let him have a go at selling it, then he will come crawling back.....as they do. Ciao M
News flash- Ferrari HAVE made some sh*t cars as well as some great ones. Have a guess which category we are looking at in a Mondial?
well Tiptronic owned one ... need we say more ? the GT4 is a much better looking car .. even if Bertone was the designer
