Whats everybodys favorite copter? It can be real life, miltary or not no holds bar here. This one is mine nobody can mess with this monster! Image Unavailable, Please Login
The commanche prototypes were pretty sweet. Im a big cobra fan, defiantly would be a fun toy If I had the money to spend.
I got to fly the Sikorsky Comanche 3d simulator for an hour back in 1996 when I was one of the project engineers on the T800 engine program. Probably as close as anybody but a test pilot will ever get to the real thing now. That was a hoot. The ground detail wasn't as good as we have for modern flight simulators, but the cockpit realism was amazing. The Comanche had a different "side stick" cyclic that had a twist grip for yaw control. It was weird for the first 10 minutes, I wanted to use pedals for yaw control, but after that it felt pretty natural. With all of the stability augmentation it was pretty easy to hover, much easier than a Huey.... I really liked doing slow rolls in the simulator, just point the nose up a bit and roll it around the horizion..... Lots of controls for the weapons systems, but most of them were pretty intuitive. Pretty amazing machine.....
I think its the hughs 500 or little bird I forget which one but iam very interested in one of those. Where can I locate one?. How much if anyone knows?
I personally like the UH-1 Iroquois 'Huey'. Or the Eurocopter Dauphin, I like the look of it with the landing gear up. Looks very sleek. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I like some of the notar copters. Atleast I think that is what they call them when they have no tail rotor.
What is the difference between AirWolf and Blue Thunder? Obviously AirWolf is better. But i've never been able to figure it out.
Air wolf is overated http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8IPPq5-pVI there's plenty of Air wolf videos winning against other aircraft but this is probably the most valid out of the bunch. Blue Thunder is a police heilcopter prototype used as an urban combat vehicle to fight terrorist, crime and such its more realistic than Air wolf. Nothing can rival that gun except the one found on the A-10 . Air wolf on the other hand is basicly an Apache built in a bell body think about it minus the anti missle defense system it has they are pretty much the same aircraft, requres two pilots, guns and rockets basicly the same thing just diffrent bodys.
Those are McDonnell Douglas copters. MD600 "NOTAR" I think it is. Syled after the Hughes 500E series.
So... a 38 passenger bulletproof sky limo with 20,000 pound payload, FLIR, terrain following autopilot and pushbutton fireworks display? Make mine one of these. -Tad Image Unavailable, Please Login
Ditto on the left coast........I can hear that howl for about 5 minutes before they overhead....... Tritone
Come on we all know its got to be this one! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Blue Thunder was/is an Aérospatiale SA-341G Gazelle with so many bolt ons that most of the manuverability portrayed in the movie and show were done by movement of the camara, not the helicopter. I would say that a mounted gun on a police helicopter is the least realistic aspect of the show. Airwolf was a Bell 222A with the ideas of the guns and missiles tucked into the body stolen from the real, but now cancelled, Commanche Project. It was nothing like an Apache. In fact Blue Thunder's canopy is much more like an Apache than any detail that was on Airwolf.
