Had to give it some deep thought! Really, its ok, i am a real life "tail-end-charlie", ie Capt.Slow lol Bad time to take funds out of USA to Oz, GREAT the other way though!!Bring on $1 for $1 ratio! Ciao M
LOL. I was just talking today with a lady who is moving from California to Melbourne next month. Funny that this came up.
Actually, I was looking into that already, to start by getting admitted as a solicitor in the UK. Pretty expensive course!
I still haven't been to Oz... I ended up moving to Vegas in the meantime! Some friends of ours are in Sydney now doing consulting for a US firm and we are pretty jealous of their pictures. He's all over Aus and NZ for work; it would be really nice to be down there with an int'l firm that was paying for everything and you could travel in comfort.
Its been rain City the past 3mths and they expect more for the next 3mths, I'd stay in rainless Vegas till El Nina passes
Sydney law firms are full of americans doing summer internships every year, dunno how they get in for it though
All opinions about Australia are respected, but here's mine... I've travelled through over 35 countires and there's some amazing places in the world, but I think we have it pretty good in Australia. Sure, it's far away, gets a bit hot, poisonous creatures etc, and like any other place it has it's problems, but we live a relatviely happy and peaceful life here with not a lot of drama. So, sure bag it if you wish, but if you think it's that ****ty, then feel free to **** off home... Cheers Perry
Seeing as we're on a history kick, who was it who said "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" ?
[QUOTEwho was it who said "patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel" ?[/QUOTE] Samuel Johnson....
Late to the party... Interesting thread. I always loved the idea of moving to Australia (even if it's not a long-term move). However, the high taxes and social aversion to the wealthy is a big turn off. It does seem that the government is slowly starting to cut down taxes, but it's still too high. It looks like Australia is seeing quite a boom in wealth. If this is true, are Aussies and the government starting to look more favorably on wealth? I love the "don't tell us what to do, dream big" attitude of my fellow citizens. Even thought it rubs the majority of the countries and citizens around the world the wrong way, it's also what's contributed to our success and innovation. I'm worried that we are starting to see some social aversion to success and a "let the government do it" attitude.
is your reserve bank and IRS privately owned or publicly owned? your IRS is a legalized mafia, and boy do they abuse their power. and your worry is abosutely justified. Do Come to AUS only thing is Everything in this country belongs to the Queen of England!
rriighhttt.......... maybe you can explain why does the Vatican has an Egyptian Obelisk at the center of the city?
Aussie humour, never mind them. Tall poppy syndrome is still pretty strong in our society and it be awhile/afew gens yet before that changes.
