Aren't you off a bit in time? I still think A.J Foyt and Bob Wollek in the Swap Shop car will do the trick.
I remember that ending, one of the most exciting ones in a while, the last 45 seconds of that video still takes my breath away
Farnbacher Loles returns to ALMS; now full-season March 4, 2008 # 87 2008-spec 911 GT3 RSR http://www.farnbacherlolesracing.com/info/?id=2992 Will the Tafel effect work again?...Tafel Racing left Grand-Am mid season last year while in ALMS Tires: Now Michelin instead of Yokohama Drivers: Marc Basseng, Dirk Werner http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http://www.basseng.de/ Kumho tire testing for Vici Racing, drivers revealed Monday, 3-3-2008 http://www.viciracing.com/2008/news/other/03/pre_sebring_tests/0303.html # 5 911: Craig Stanton, Uwe Alzen joined by Nathan Swartzbaugh for Sebring http://www.fiagt.com/driverinfo.php?drivername=Uwe+Alzen Nathan won an IMSA Championship in 2006. http://www.nathanswartzbaugh.com/ Klaus Ludwig facing the camera?
"Turn 17 is one of the most challenging braking points I know" - Dirk Muller, describing a lap of historic Sebring International Raceway, in preparation for next week's Twelve Hours of Sebring. "You arrive in 6th gear and you trail brake towards the tire wall. It is quite bumpy here. Once you have control of your car you hit the power very early again. The bumps at the exit are tricky in terms of loosing car." # 71 Ferrari with Dominik Farnbacher and Rob Bell on Michelin tires http://motorsport.com/news/article.asp?ID=281558 http://www.tafelracing.com/index.php/Team-Bios/
Or the three Whittington Brothers in the March 84 - speaking of which, are they out of prison yet ??? I apologize in advance for taking this off-topic, it's just that this race was soooo great back in the good ol days. But heck, wasn't ALL racing better 25 yrs ago ?
Ah, the "Blue Thunder" car of Randy Lanier and Bill Whittington. Man, I remember when Bill and Don owned Road Atlanta... Yep, those were the days. The Kreepy Krauly (or was it the Rusty Jones?) 84G was at Sebring last year running in the vintage/historic support race.
Ya gotta count Giunti, Vaccarella, and Andretti over Revson and McQueen as a fantastic Sebring finish!
I'm obviously going for Audi #1 to take LMP1 as well as overall. LMP2 - Horag Racing RS spyder - (Marco has a goal so he'll definitely be giving it his all) GT1 - Aston Martin - fastest GT1 driver around on the team - Go Antonio! GT2 - Risi #62 - looking for a repeat of last year only this year against Bergmeister and Henzler (that's an awesome combination Seth has put together) Carol
Hopefully the renewed IndyCar Series will have multiple tires, engines, chassis in a few years. The ALMS and LMS are a bastion of innovation though and just about the last one: says Daniel Partel http://www.americanlemans.com/news/Article.aspx?ID=2811 Let's help the ALMS, LMS, and FIA GT grow. Tafel Racing Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring preview http://www.planetlemans.com/2008/03/10/tafel-racing-sebring-preview/ Team from Slovakia back for 2008's endurance race The # 77 911 of Autoracing Club Bratslavia is of Miro Konopka's team from Slovakia and competed in this race last year. http://www.mirokonopka.sk/ http://www.fiagt.com/driverinfo.php?drivername=Miro+Konopka
When a poorly-secured door detached itself from the Kreepy Krauly car (wasn't it a March?) and the crew borrowed a spare door from the Red Lobster team (Bill Adam?)? For the duration of the race it was the Kreepy Lobster car? I think Sarel Vandermeer was one of the drivers. Man, do I miss the Group C cars!! KevFla
Honestly I think those are optimistic picks. Mine would have to be P1-Audi Sport NA (the car with McNish), I can't see Peugeot topping them at the first race of the season P2-Highcroft Acura GT1-Corvette (not sure which #, whichever has O'Connell behind the wheel) GT2-this is honestly the toughest pick, I'd have to say either the Risi or Tafel 430's or the Lizard GT3.

How the **** did this turn into a nostalgia thread? - McNish - Herta rocks - of course, the great Ronnie Fellows is the man - would be great to see Tafel do well
Pedro fastest in testing today - .725 faster than Marco in the P2 Acura. Although I am not an Andretti fan, I was very pleased to see the Acura above the Penske Spyders. As I remarked earlier, GT2 is going to be Risi #62 and FLM #45 and that's how it played out today. Jaime was .283 ahead of the Lizards. GT2 is going to be the best of the classes is this race. Can't wait for qualifying Thursday. Carol
