Is there any one who's bought a car from this company in Harrogate. Good or bad?? I've found a 355 Gtb F1 there i'm very interested in.

I friend of mine knows the owner - seems straight enough from what I have heard. I would agree with Wobblers advice though, get any agreements in writing, as I would with any dealer.

I offered to buy the car at the full asking price but he declined saying it was too cheap and that he had several people phoning from abroad which made him think the price was on the low side.So I told him to re advertise it with a higher price.I could not have done more.

If thats true then its a bad way to do business.

Happened to me with a Lotus Esprit in London, drove all the way down, offered the full price and was told too many people were interested in it. He asked me to make an offer above the asking price, I told him to stop wating peoples time and money...

    This shouldnt be allowed!

It looks as if he took my advice and is now advertising the car for 5000 pounds more.Originally at 35 now at 40.
I believe he should have gone for 10k more this way he is sure not to change his mind.

Agreed, it shouldn't be allowed, but the advert is "an invitation to treat" and there is no obligation from the seller to go through with the sale.

I'm sure there must be others around the same price/condition etc?

Ok!! I don't really understand why you want to put a car for sale at a price, then when people shows interest in this car you add £5000. But a car dealer wants to sell his cars as expensive as possible.

Probably it was the same car, i have lost it right in front of my eyes twice! First when the private seller sold it to "Lawton Brook" and he couldn't cancel the deal. When i call them and tell them i'm interested in this car, they tell me it's mine for £35000, but! I have to pay a £1000 deposit, this is something i'm not used to. Is it common to do that in the UK? He said of course it's fully refondable. I didn't do that and when i booked my flight tickets they told me it was sold!! Two days later it's on their website again, but now it costs £5000 more! That was the second time i lost this car at 35k, probably i should have paid the deposit the first time. I don't know.

I'm still interested in the car and i've got the price down a bit, but not enough.

By the way, does any one know a Ferraridealer called "Foskers"?

It is the same car.Yellow gtb f1.It was never sold.
GREED got the better of him.
Leaving a deposit is a normal way of doing business particularly if you use a credit card backed up by an invoice. In this way you can always claim from the credit card company should anything go wrong.

    Good luck next time.
