I think Its actually a form of Post Modernism and I believe the architect is the famed Richard Mier. If you want to see a really cool firm, look up Morphosis. They do some phenominal stuff.
It's modern in the "white" school. Yes, very much like Richard Meier's early work, before he turned to curves. House is very minimalist (see interior hallway), with only books and a small car collection. House was in a German architectural book, garage photo in French Evo car magazine. Wow - beautiful home. We are currently building a home on the Northern Bear - Jack Nicklaus golf course here in Canada, and hope to have a similar result in terms of finishing and lighting.
Matthew Perry just bought this really nice home up in the Outpost Estates area of the Hollywood Hills. Paid about $4.5 million. Tour available at http://www.2415carmancrest.com/ More info at http://realestalker.blogspot.com/2008/04/matthew-perry-makes-it-modern.html Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anybody remember a picture of a house built on the top of a peak with a bridge over to the swimming pool which also happened to be on the top of another peak? I've been trying to find it, its definitely on F-chat but maybe through a link.
This is currently for sale in Toronto--and Toronto is not a hotbed of Modernism. http://www.theheapsestrinteam.com/Content/Listings/6%20Evergreen%20Gardens.asp Image Unavailable, Please Login
I think the glass-walled homes are cool, and definitely nice to enjoy a vista from a hill or mountainside, but don't tenants worry about privacy?

Don't get me started on the lack of design in this city. I pointed out the T-D Centre as the best of the limited modern architecture to a local the other day and was greeted with a "huh?" response.

Not only Toronto, we grew up around St. Catherines, Hamilton, Niagara Falls... not exactly places where architecture was celebrated!

This is one of my favorite John Pawson designs. It was commissioned by British Supermarket chain, Marks & Spencers. The plan which was to sell it as a kit house along with their furniture and home furnishings but it never happened. One of my favorites: The Crawford residence in Montecito, Ca. designed by Thom Mayne and Michael Rotundi. It was completed 18 years ago. It's primary pallete of materials are wood, board-formed concrete, patinated copper, and stucco. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
