    But I dont think ferrari was going to submit the F50 for comp. The roadgoing cars have to be exact to the racecars but street legal, or am I just totaly wrong with my thinking.

    THE F-50 WAS BUILT SO THE 333SP COULD BE RACED. THE MINIMUM WAS 50 TO COUNT AS A PRODUCTION CAR. THE 333SP IS THE RACE VERSION OF THE F-50.

    Either way of looking at this, I still think open cockpit is the way to go... Plus the 333sp is much lighter.:)

    If I am correct, the SP's are the beholder of the Fiorano lap record at around 1'11". Are they the fastest non open-wheeled cars around Fiorano??

    The GT1 never had a shot at the track so we don' know.

    Really?? I saw on ultimate-car-page.com I beleive that it said specifically that it clocked faster lap times on Fiorano than the SP. The reason I ask in the first place is that they never said any such lap times. I may be completely wrong anyway....:p

    I'm pretty sure it was 25 cars and not 50. Maybe I am wrong. I know McLaren built at least 50 but I would be willing to bet my left arm that there arent 50 Porsche GT1's out there. According to wikipedia there are only 25 total CLK-GTR mercedes

    Either way a sick car. I would vote for the F50GT mainly for how rare it is...

    For me the F50gt1 is the ultimate car. while the 333sp is awesome, it just doesnt do much for me other than its another lemans style prototype.
    dont get me wrong, its an amazing machine, but the F50 is just that bit more, firstly its looks are obviously based on a production car that people can associate with, and the modifications done to the body are just so purposeful. to me its always been a mysterious car, everyones seen pictures of one, but 99.9% of the world wouldnt have seen one, where as the 333sp is somewhat shown off more, race meetings, car shows, displays...

    The 333 SP was racing before the F50 was introduced.

    Yes, but the f50 was in production when the 333sp was introduced.

    I agree. But somehow, I can't go with the F50 gt yet because, lets be honest, we don't know much about the car. In my case, I need that information to be satisfied....

    IMSA regulations specified that the engine used could not displace over four litres and had to be derived from a road car. The V12 used was similar in design to Ferrari's contemporary Formula 1 engines, but it was homologated because it would power the upcoming Ferrari F50 road car. For the F50 the 3.5 litre F1 engine was increased in size to 4.7 litre and then reduced again for the 333 SP. All technical aspects, like the 5 valves per cylinder setup, were retained for both the F50 and 333 SP engine. Like many of its legendary predecessors the 333 SP was named after its engine's unitary displacement of 333 cc.

    Okay, this makes more sense. Anyway, what do you know concerning the F50, about the location (museums, garages, etc.), value (s/n 002-003) and spec. (s/n 001) currently?
