Unbelievable.
Stuart, wow, very sobering pics. Glad you are here to post! Was the accident with the white car in the pics or is that a salvage yard? I think I have spoken to the seller before. If its the same guy, he buys one car at a time and rebuilds them. Gotta be very expensive to redo a cs from the pics that were posted. Too bad someone can not add that pic to the sale. Then the price would be truly reflective of the WHOLE situation.
Wow, glad you are OK after that crash. In this day of widespread internet use I don't see how anyone could expect to sell a special car like a Stradale with a salvage title and not expect the real story to come out. Maybe the seller did expect it to come out, but I can't see how the car is worth the salvage value plus the cost of the repairs that were done.
That's funny because the guy that fix it said that most of the suspension, brakes and steering are all original. Here are some more pics from copart. Nice first post...might one presume that you are the seller? Thankfully the aluminum chassis did its job saving the life of the previous owner, but will all respect to the "guy that fix it" this car should have been stripped for parts and scrapped. Buyer beware.....
jaysus rick, why strip it? the rear license plate holder is still good and you just build forward from there
"Funny?" I think not. I had one of the most qualified Ferrari Certified shops in the country write the estimate (Karosserie in PA) It was them that said that they wouln't fix the car unless it was retubbed with Ferrari sPa's blessing. I WANTED THE CAR FIXED. I figured that it saved my life - so I wanted it repaired at all cost. Thank God that decision was taken away from me. The damage was so significant that when I regained conciousness and looked down at my feet - I could see the ground. Every structural member was fractured. The hit was so hard that it buckled the roof (see first pix). Both of the front wheels were split and one rotor chipped. The estimate indicated that there was nothing salvagable from the seats forward except part of the dashboard and the center console. Even the steering wheel was fractured. You know as well as I do that every mechanical part from the windshield forward needed to be replaced. If they weren't - they are still damaged. Even the passenger side door needed to be replaced. When the car was recovered from the ravine where the car wound up, the tow truck treated it like a totalled car and used no mercy when it was loaded/unloaded at least 5 times. IT WAS DRAGGED. Jeeze - I still have the original owners manual and the gas filler door which was ejected from the severity of the impact and flew 250 feet. That car should have never been fixed.. Shall I post more pictures? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I don't know were you are in the country but I would love you to come buy and look at the car and show what was actually done with the car. I do agree that it looks ugly in the pictures but once you take the front damaged bucket off most of the damaged parts are gone and that's what made the car look bad. The guy that fixed it said that once he replaced the right suspension he drove it on to the tow truck.
Doesn't one need a VIN# and Ferrari Approval in order to purchase body parts for the Stradale? If new parts were used to fix the car then Ferrari must have somehow gotten involved. Or maybe they fixed the car with used parts.
Yeah right, then he pushed the hood down a little so he could see and turned a 1:23 at Laguna Seca. Image Unavailable, Please Login
"Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it."
Unbelievable photos. Very surprising that it was repaired and is up for sale. If these pics were attached to the ebay ad I highly doubt the car would have bids exceeding $100k.
Could have been 1:22 if the airbag wasn't flapping around the paddles "Spicoli Ferrari Services-you won't see the buff marks" I know a salvage car that has since won platinum x3, and I know totalled vintage stuff that is more repro than real, but this was an ugly mess. Glad nobody killed. Perhaps a running VIN post in thread with documented "issue" cars? Just cut and paste when more stories appear. Since documented, shouldn't be a liability issue. Friend looking for CS, good ones few or NFS.
Anybody know a "story" about this car??? http://www.ferrarisiliconvalley.com/cars/inventory/preowned/2004-ferrari-360-challenge-stradale.aspx
I was told that this was the "press" car that Ferrari used for promotional purposes and was tested by journalists at various tracks. It was originally registered by FNA.
