    Out of my mind
Well guys, last Friday was my last flight on the DC-8. Yesterday was my first day in DC-10 ground school. the 10 is a nice bird compared to the 8 but I guess I got a soft spot for the old gal. I'm sure nobody is shedding a tear for me ;). after all It's another type rating. let me compare both flight characteristics with an analogy:

    DC-8 fly's like a dump truck.

    DC-10 fly's like a Cadillac

Mario, how long is the course? Sim rides? Actual flights?

I should be done sometime in October. ground school takes about two or three weeks, about 6 or 8 simulator sessions, one FAA oral exam (hopefully) and one sim ride for the type rating (hopefully). company line check, FAA line check. then I'm done.

    hopefully...

Drinking out of one of these, again, huh?!? Still, I've thought I was a better student as I grew older. Maybe, your mind is just tuned to knowing what's necessary and how much you actually need to digest.

true. after a few times doing this, you learn what really needs to be learned, the rest catches up eventually. but you right, it's always like drinking out of a fire hose...

FINALLY! after two postponements, I finally received my DC-10 type rating last night! what a relief. It's all down hill from here.
