Headed to Orlando this weekend for NBAA convention. I would like some good recommendations for seafood if anyone has any. Thanks, B.J. Hunt Wichita, KS
That's only about a mile from where we are staying...looked at their menu. Fantastic!!! We get great beef in Kansas, but unfortunately people think Red Lobster is seafood here...ugh.
This is very close to the convention center (across the street). Don't have any personal experience but it looks pretty good. http://www.evergladesrestaurant.com/menu/orlando-everglades-menu.htm http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g34515-d483960-r10508714-Everglades-Orlando_Florida.html Al
If you are staying near the convention center, there are at least two dozen restaurants in the area to which you can walk. Then north of Sand Lake on International Drive, there are at least three dozen more, but..................................
Salt Island on I-drive, just north of Sand Lake Rd. Very good selection of FRESH seafood as well as great steaks.
Pointe Orlando is a restaurant/retail/movie theater complex more or less across the street from the Rosen Centre Hotel. A very, very short cab ride from the convention center or maybe a 10-15 minute walk, depending on the humidity. For seafood, Ocean Aire Seafood is classy without being tourist-y. If the mood changes to steaks, Capital Grille is across the sidewalk. Both are located at 9101 International Drive. I second the suggestion for Roy's (Sand Lake Rd) if interested in Asian/Pacific Rim fusion. If you get a rental car, absolutely don't wait until you hit the last gas station before filling it up before turning the car in. The gas station with the Wendy's just north of the airport has been charging $5.50 for regular. If you take a towncar from the hotel to the airport, plan to spend $55-$65. I've gone to the NBAA in the past but can't afford it this year. I'm one mile from orlando exec, so if you have any questions about the area, etc, please call me at 407-592-9477. Have fun! KevFla
Near the Convention Center... As mentioned: Charlie's Steakhouse The Capital Grille For dinner and a lot of fun... Cafe' Tu Tu Tango www.cafetututango.com Samba Room (esp if you enjoy salsa dancing) www.sambaroom.net I've heard The Oceanaire is really nice, but I'm not a seafood person, so I wouldn't know. www.theoceanaire.com
Ruth Chris's right across the street from Roy's (I-4 and the East side of Sand Lake). FYI, adjacent to Roy's is Corona Cigar Bar ..highly recommended.
Had time for only 1 good restaurant, can you believe that? Salt Island it was (thanks Cochise). Unfortunately everything else was eat and go. Nice city, haven't been in a few years. Thanks for everyone's input. BJ
